Introduction to Video Game Design

This is the finished version of the godot game. I added walk and jump sounds to make the game feel more satisfying.
Here is a video going through the stage I have created in godot. I have added a button on the enemies that have a clear indicator that they can be attacked.

Here are 2 screenshots of my first godot scene. I don’t know what happened but the pillars wouldn’t have the proper colors unless the scene was being played, hence the color difference in the screenshots.
My Microstudio game is about a small wind-up toy robot trying to escape the wreckage of a city that has been taken over by malfunctioning robots.
For week 2, I worked on creating the background to fit the theme of my game, along with the designs of the collectables and enemies.
The world I created for the game was an apocalyptic future where only robots roam around, so I changed the background to be a warm orange to fit that theme. The collectables that I settled on were nuts, and the enemies are going to be broken robots.

The character that I created was a small wind up toy that wakes up in the future. I created a simple idle animation by spinning the key in it’s back, as well as a 2 frame walking cycle, and a jumping up and down sprite.

My bitsy game is a short game called “Dog Days”. It’s a simple story of a dog running to reunite his family while they’re just out grocery shopping. The game can be finished easily but I made sure to hide a good ending behind a series of “fetch” quests.

I finished the 2nd “act” of the game, and included an optional mission. I will try to polish the look of the game so that it won’t look so simple, specifically the walls keeping the player in, and also the area meant to be a street.

My Bitsy Game is about a family who goes out to do some grocery shopping, but their puppy starts to worry when they take longer than normal. The puppy sets off on an adventure to “save” his family. (Even if he’s not the brightest)
Animations are simple, but I’ll try to update them as I get more used to using Bitsy.

The story of a rather unique school trip causing a unique chain of events that no one could have ever guessed would happen!
Some things that I fixed from feedback given to my project was that I added the scrollbar, as some pages wouldn’t be fully viewable unless the page was shrunk. I also shortened some of the text as it did take a while before the clickable options were actually viewable.
