Renegade on itch.io

I posted my game Renegade on itch.io

https://3mk99a.itch.io/renegade

The environment of the game is based on the feelings of a boy trying to run away from home. The different bosses and collectibles were designed around how life feels for him and his emotional state throughout the journey.

Godot User Feedback

Overall, the feedback on Renegade was very positive. People really liked the dark atmosphere, visuals, and sound design, saying they worked well together and created a strong mood. Some players found the collectible/enemy design a bit confusing at first, which made them think certain items were obstacles. A few also mentioned that the environment was very dark, which sometimes made it hard to see platforms or know where to go. Overall, the main feedback was that the game has a strong aesthetic and concept, but could improve readability and lighting for better gameplay clarity.

Godot 2

My game is almost finished. Everything in this scene was made by me either in Godot or Cinema 4D, including the decorations and enemies. I wanted the environment to reflect the main character’s feelings while running away from home.

I made the heart enemy bright pink on purpose so it would stand out and look like it doesn’t belong with everything else in the scene. it represents how for the main character “love”, or things that seem safe can still hurt him.

Godot 1 – Renegade

Renegade is about a boy who runs away from home. This level is supposed to reflect his state of mind – angry and chaotic.

My microStudio Game

This is Part 1 of my game, Amelie’s Dilemma. Amelie doesn’t have any memories and doesn’t know who she is. She just knows there’s something she needs to find. As she goes, she gets through different challenges during her adventure.

Micro Studio User Testing -Amelie’s Dilema

Got some really helpful feedback from two players on my game! One person really liked the animations, cloud theme, and how the second level became more challenging. Another mentioned that some platform colors blended too much with the background, making it harder to tell them apart while playing. They also suggested adjusting the jump height or platform spacing because they kept bumping into platforms above in level two and falling into the pits. Overall, both players enjoyed the game and said the extra lives helped balance the difficulty 🙂

My Character Sprites

Amelie is a girl who lost all her memories. She doesn’t remember who she is or where she came from. The only thing she has is a note written on her arm telling her to find a crown. She’s not even sure if she’s actually a princess, but it’s the only clue she has, so she goes with it.

She realizes she’s literally jumping across clouds, which doesn’t feel normal, but she stays focused on her goal. If she finds the crown, maybe she’ll get her memories back and finally figure out what’s going on.

Finding Kiwi is a game I made about a girl searching for her little pet Kiwi. It’s a maze style game where you explore different rooms and try to find your way through.

Some feedback I got from players on itch.io:

People liked the style and overall vibe. The dialogue was also mentioned a lot, with people saying it was funny and added personality to the game. A few people said some parts were a bit confusing or hard to access. One user mentioned an issue collecting a coin, which was fixed shortly after. Overall, the feedback was positive and people seemed to enjoy exploring it.

Bitsy Blog #2

I added four more rooms, apart from the main room, that follow a kind of labyrinth layout. I wanted to set up the first level so the guards would move out of the way if you gave them an apple, but I couldn’t figure out how. I also added different decorative animated sprites and coins that the player can collect throughout the game, as well as little fishes to pick up as a nod to what Kiwi is. Since it’s never directly stated in the game that Kiwi is a cat, this makes it a bit trickier to find Kiwi at the end. I also added a coin counter and a fish counter for the ending, along with some effects for the dialogue.
