i really miss being able to have a bonfire, I’m a book lover/i love to book bind. i also love writing, so in a way I can write myself into a scene at a campfire.
For my 3D model, I decided to take inspiration from “The Kiss” by Constantin Brâncuși (1907–08). Wikipedia+1 I chose this sculpture because it uses simple, geometric forms while still clearly showing two people embracing. Since the sculpture is carved from a block-like shape, it’s a good match for Tinkercad, where I can build the main form with basic shapes and create details using cutouts.
For my 3D model, I decided to take inspiration from the “LOVE” sculpture by Robert Indiana. It was first created in Indianapolis in 1970 and has since been recreated in various states including Louisiana, Florida and New York. I took inspiration from the LOVE sculpture that is currently located in Rockefeller Center. I choose this sculpture because it’s featured in many shows and it’s a very known sculpture. I’m also a big fan of pop art, which is what this sculpture is.
For my 3D model inspiration, I chose the sculpture CUBI VI (1963) by David Smith. The sculpture is made of stacked geometric metal shapes arranged vertically. It has an abstract form that suggests balance, movement, and structure. I chose this sculpture because it uses simple geometric forms and strong vertical lines, which makes it a good reference for gesturing the idea of the sculpture in a 3D model.
I wanted to make a Christmas postcard inspired by Guatemala, so that’s what I did. I created a pattern for the wording to make it more interesting, and I added Santa and his reindeer to really give it a Christmas vibe. Overall, I wanted it to feel festive but still personal.
I was inspired to mix an eye with a cracked texture because I liked the idea of blending something human with something worn and broken. The contrast between the smooth eye and the rough cracks made the image feel more dramatic and symbolic. I also wanted to experiment with texture and layering without making the project too complicated. But Overall, the piece let me play with emotion and abstraction in a simple but effective way.
I chose to combine a cracked texture with a close-up eye because I liked the contrast between something natural and something broken. I found both images online and thought they would blend well into an abstract look.
