Finding Kiwi is about a little girl whose cat goes missing. I first created the first room, which is a little basic, and when you get near the question mark, it feels like the game starts. A dialogue bubble pops up to let the player know we need to find Kiwi. From there, she wanders into the forest outside her house, exploring different spots, and you help her search until she finds her cat.

I completed and posted Chapter 1 of Vivarium. Nothing too exciting yet, but it’s an important first step to start the adventure.

The first chapter only consists of getting to know the normal world around the main character, so that later it can be compared to the second chapter, which I sadly didn’t have enough time to make.

The users’ feedback highlighted that the game has a cozy, engaging feel with a strong focus on friendship and good writing. The users suggested adding choices that influence the story and making the game playable in the browser rather than only as a downloadable file.

I continued the story from where it left off and added a variable that changes what happens at the mall depending on which friends you bring. I also tried to add a bit of foreshadowing when mentioning the game’s name if you choose to go to the mall with Lily.

I’ve had this game idea for a while because I’m obsessed with Alice in Wonderland. The main character is a girl who starts out having a totally normal day. She’s with her mom, talking about vacation plans, and everything feels ordinary. But right from the first choice, your decisions matter. You choose her favorite breakfast, and that choice is remembered later in the game when she gets a dress that gives her special powers inspired by that breakfast.

The game continues with a normal day where you pick which friend you want to hang out with, and you get to spend some time in the normal human world, too. Later that night, her mom reads her a story before bed. When she wakes up, everything has changed. She finds herself in the house of a human sized mouse family.

Now she’s in a town full of animals that walk on two legs and live like humans. But lately, some of the residents have been disappearing, and she sets out to uncover the mystery through adventures and quests with the new friends she meets in town.
