For my website, I wanted to have a bit more of an eerie start. I wanted it to feel like you stumbled across something. The website almost seems like its talking directly to you, the visitor.

Very cool, using the fixed position with percent values is a good way to achieve this type of layout in HTML/CSS. I like this concept a lot, the only thing I’m concerned about is whether the text may be too dark for some readers. Chrome actually has a built in way to check color contrast, I recommend checking out this site that explains how you can test the colors on your page:
