- 1.142 Did the process of making and giving the presentation make you feel more prepared to present information in a professional setting?
- 1.143 What did you learn from watching others presentations?</h3 I learned that many of the students had creative ideas for their project. Each of them had their own way of presenting their ideas, whether it would be using a mirror board or presentation. ONe thing I took away from watching others are the amount of effort you see each student that pours into their presentation. I saw that some didn’t put much effort and were very quick to finish presentation. This gave me a sense that they were not that dedicated even if they did it uninteintaly. I want to prevent my audience to feel this way, so this encourages me not to do same mistake. When other students shows the time and dedication they put in to show their wonderful ideas, it really grabs my attention and boost my confidence to want to do the same. Overall, HTML went pretty well. I could use a basic review. I use a few HTML elements but I don't know the actual definitions, and there are some elements I never use that I want to try.
Where I am with My Dev Environment Setup
Getting the Dev Environment started is always challenging at first, but fingers crossed, it should get better. I worked with VSC in a Linux environment with any Ubuntu distro. I always ran away from using a PC because development on Windows OS was difficult, and there was never enough documentation. I will try to use my PC this semester. I already had WSL installed and will update to WSL 2. It's not an obstacle, just something I will have to learn and read up on this semester.

JavaScript lets you create dynamic content, control multimedia, animate images, and pretty much everything else. It’s like a must-have in today’s web design.
What are you interested in doing with JavaScript in your personal project?
I want to add more interactivity to the websites I built. Or I can also do mini browser apps (like the one Google has with the dinosaur).
What aspects of CSS Layout and JavaScript do you need more practice with?
My CSS is okay I think, but I can use some practice with layouts. My knowledge of JS is pretty basic. I need to spend more time to get a better understanding of functions, but overall a little practice on everything will be good.

The series of videos were very insightful, they showcased both theoretical and practical information about JavaScript
Describe your understanding of JavaScript’s use and position in modern Web Design.
JavaScript plays a key role in any major interaction of the website (except hovers and default transitions – CSS tackles them). Developers utilize javascript for both back-end and front-end.
We can call javascript an ancestor of the majority of modern and cutting edge frameworks such as React, Angular, and Vue. It also has a number of dialects.
What are you interested in doing with JavaScript in your personal project?
I would love to utilize javascript on my website to create advanced hover effects, interactions, animating loading screen, and create an immersive digital experience.
I also would like to get a comprehensive understanding of the so-called headless frameworks and get a grasp of knowledge about tech architecture and optimal organization of development infrastructure.
What aspects of CSS Layout and JavaScript do you need more practice with?
Transitions and animations, practicing selecting multiple classes and setting up overarching styles. For javascript I just need more practice and learning

JavaScript is used to add interactivity to a website. Almost every website on the internet has JS. It is a MUST in order to succeed in the industry nowadays.

I’ve been building my portfolio using HTML and CSS, I definitely want to add some interactivity using JS.

I definitely need more practice with the CSS grid layout. In terms of JS, my knowledge is super basic I will say I need practice with everything.

Honestly, I have to say that it wasn’t that clear to me is my first time seeing Java Script and learning about it.

I don’t really have that much of an understatement of JavaScript all I know is that it’s used for adding interactive behavior to a web page and some other cool stuff like apps and of that sort.
What are you interested in doing with JavaScript in your personal project?
Once I learn the exact things I can do with JavaScript then ill know more in-depth about what I would like to use javascript for. However, if I can create a cool app mission accomplish.

My CSS is slowly getting there but I believe in order to feel comfortable with JavaScript I have to work my way around CSS with more confidence.

Describe your understanding of JavaScript’s use and position in modern Web Design.
I don’t really have that much of an understatement of JavaScript all I know is that it’s used for adding interactive behavior to a web page and some other cool stuff like apps and of that sort.
What are you interested in doing with JavaScript in your personal project?
Once I learn the exact things I can do with JavaScript then ill know more in-depth about what I would like to use javascript for. However, if I can create a cool app mission accomplish.
What aspects of CSS Layout and JavaScript do you need more practice with?
My CSS is slowly getting there but I believe in order to feel comfortable with JavaScript I have to work my way around CSS with more confidence.

Overall good, the videos were pretty simple yet informative, they also weren’t too long which was nice.

I am still a bit confused about JavaScript but what I understand is how important it is towards making an interactive fluid website.
What are you interested in doing with JavaScript in your personal project?
It would be cool to create a small interactive game on a website or an interactive map with JavaScript.
What aspects of CSS Layout and JavaScript do you need more practice with?
CSS I am pretty okay on, I could use a little more experience with Float and Flexbox but other than that I am alright.
JavaScript, however, I am still trying to grasp how to properly use the variables, operators, etc… I think I just need more hands-on work with it.

I think I’m proud of running the npm build process. One of my teammates was able to get it working, and it was a bit frustrating that it wouldn’t work for me, but I’m happy that I was able to fix it.

Firstly you open the Github repository provided. Proceed to download the zip filed and open the folders on you visual studio code. After, you will transfer you project files to your eleventy project that you downloaded. I notice that when I did this with the professor, I had about 3 thousand files that were unknown and not use in my project. We had to sit and careful hide these file in our ignore files to use elventy properly. Afterwards I used terminal to activated the shortcuts such as npm start and main etc.

It would be beneficial to learn more about Javascript functions and JSON.

What I know about about getting the Example Eleventy Course project up and running:
First I need to fork the project then clone it into VS code.
Next, I need to open the terminal and install eleventy globally using npx @11ty/eleventy.
Then, I can create a branch just to make sure I’m not working on the original file. ( first using the name of the branch and then adding -b in order to change the name. For example git checkout -b 01_02mine
Then I can type in the terminal — input — output –watch — serve. (I know what the last one is used for, but I’m still a bit confused about the rest.)
Then create a package.json file.
In order to make a package.json file I will use npm init -y. Then I can make changes to the file to then be able to use nmp start to convert the file to html
Then I can create the .eleventy.js file

What I know about about getting the Example Eleventy Course project up and running:
I use WSL, the way I start my project might be different. The main things to know before getting the eleventy project started is to have access to Github and the course repo ( through link). Have VSC open with Nodejs and npm installed. ( check version >node -v >npm -v). Make sure VSC is opened in the folder you want to work in. (ls, cd ‘folder’ or mkdir ‘folder’ )
Open new terminal:
Once eleventy is installed, the Github course repo should be forked then cloned. In VSC if the Github extensions are installed : ctrl+shift+p to open ( I think its opens the command palette) > type git , select git: clone . ctrl+v the cloned repo within the palette.
Check which branch. > git status, > git branch -r
then >git checkout master
npm install -g 11ty@eleventy ( doublecheck).
>npm init > npm run build (building the package might come before)

I understand parts of the process, my Git environment looked a little different . I had to open source bash config to have show $master.

My experience creating and giving the midterm presentation:
I used the miro board, gratefully provided by professor to create my presentation. It was a bit tricky since miro board is a heavy site and it felt like using a non-touch screen ipad. THe tools were easy to use and I was able to easily add in my content.
While presenting, it was difficult to have zoom and miro running at the same time. Overall, I had enjoyed presenting my ideas to my about making my first personal portfolio to show my skills off.
What was surprising was that every student would make sticky notes on a separate miro board to give feedback on each presentation. I found this super helpful and engaging, while giving every student a chance to say something even if they don’t want to turn their mic on. I really giving students advice and my opinions regarding their projects.
Did the process of making and giving the presentation make you feel more prepared to present information in a professional setting?
This experience has made me more comfortable and prepared for future professional presentations. I generally, enjoy making presentations but often find myself not prepared to give it. So having to show my progress to my class not only build up my public speaking skills, but also helps direct what I’m showing to y target audience. For example, specific presentations often is directed to specific audience. In this case, I now know what my audience is looking for, what they expected and they can be surprised with when I do future presentations regarding portfolios, product ideas etc. So now I can prepare myself when the time comes.
What did you learn from watching others presentations?</h3
I learned that many of the students had creative ideas for their project. Each of them had their own way of presenting their ideas, whether it would be using a mirror board or presentation. ONe thing I took away from watching others are the amount of effort you see each student that pours into their presentation. I saw that some didn’t put much effort and were very quick to finish presentation. This gave me a sense that they were not that dedicated even if they did it uninteintaly. I want to prevent my audience to feel this way, so this encourages me not to do same mistake. When other students shows the time and dedication they put in to show their wonderful ideas, it really grabs my attention and boost my confidence to want to do the same.
