3D Project- Qilin

Title: Qilin

This 3D modeling project based on the Qilin sculpture became a really unforgettable experience for me. At the beginning, I chose a female sculpture, but as I worked on it, I felt that it wasn’t challenging enough. When I continued looking at other sculptures, I decided to use the Qilin as the reference for this project.

The Qilin represents good luck, and I hoped that my final project would also bring good luck. However, the creation process was not as smooth as I expected. The curved body and the limbs were especially challenging for me. Even after I finished the model, I realized that the website didn’t save my final version, so I had to spend another hour rebuilding the model from scratch.

Fortunately, everything worked out in the end, and I was able to complete the project successfully. In a way, the final result matched the meaning of the Qilin itself—bringing good fortune after difficulties.

3D Design-Qilin

My 3D modeling project was inspired by a Qilin sculpture artifact. This was my first time working with 3D modeling, and I realized that creating a human face would be too difficult for me at this stage. So instead, I chose a subject that was still a bit challenging but more manageable, and also meaningful to me.

The Qilin is very important in Chinese history and culture. Even though it is a mythical creature, its significance is comparable to that of the dragon. In historical texts, seeing a Qilin is considered a sign of good luck and a symbol of good fortune. Because of this, I felt that using the Qilin as my reference made my first 3D modeling project more meaningful.

This week I have decided that I would like to make this sculpture often called the “Eternal Embrace,” in 3D because I find it so beautiful and genuinely romantic. It makes me feel incredibly safe and peaceful. It’s not about big, dramatic love; it’s about the deep, quiet, secure feeling you get when you know you belong with someone completely. It represents that moment when you’re totally comfortable and protected in an embrace. Is like the universal experience of love. It was very hard to realize this design and I know it doesn’t look too much like the picture I choose but I really try my best and it took me a long time to be able to complete this. Winged Victory of Samothrace Model

This is my Winged Victory of Samothrace Model. I drew in the wings as a scribble. I tried an egg shape for the body, but it didn’t look as nice, so I put two spheres together and messed with the settings. I used cylinders for the legs.
