The background image was taken during one of my walks. The leaves in the upper right corner and the empty space in the lower left reminded me of the elegance of a flamingo, which this composition complements perfectly. It also reflects the state of mind I had when capturing the photo—similar to the flamingo in the work, quietly lost in its own solitude.
The flamingo itself comes from an online resource with a Creative Commons license. https://www.publicdomainpictures.net/cn/view-image.php?image=95179&picture
For this compositing work “The Lost Flamingo”, I applied the following tools: Color Channel, Drop Shadow, Gradient, Marquee Tool, Layer Mask, and Global Refinements (Feather and Shift Edge).
The primary challenge in creating this piece was achieving a seamless integration of the flamingo with the background. Even so, I learned a great deal throughout the process. Working through each issue step by step ultimately shaped and completed the final piece.

This is so cool, the flamingo doesn’t even really look lost, it blends in pretty well lol. You said you took the background image that’s a really nice photo. I like your piece a lot!
Thanks you~ Your comment means a lot! I also felt the background helped bring out the flamingo.
This is a fantastic composition! The shadows you’ve created are especially effective because they make the scene feel incredibly realistic and add a lot of depth. I also really admire your use of color and light it creates such a great mood and makes the piece pop. Really nice work!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your feedback. I’m glad you noticed the shadows and the colors—I was experimenting with them to create a certain atmosphere, so it means a lot that it came through. Your encouragement motivates me to keep improving!
Nice work, the contrast of the flamingo and background image is really nice. The shadow also looks good.
Thank you Professor. I was aiming to emphasize the contrast between the flamingo and the background while also enhancing the sense of depth with the shadow. I appreciate your comments as they help me reflect on and improve my work!
