Summary
I chose the Ad Hominem fallacy which occurs when a party in an argument chooses the attack the other party by name-calling or other derogatory remarks. This is a very popular and common one when it comes to current political discourse as there are a good number of people, even those in the public spotlight, that engage in name-calling when they disagree with another's opinion. The term "snowflake" used to refer to someone who is easily offended is particularly in vogue at the moment. Usually in these cases, a person presents a genuine reason for why something may be wrong, for example the use of offensive language or the use of violence in popular movies leading to children mirroring the behavior. Proponents of ad hominem based arguments would then describe that party as a "snowflake" to mean they are weak-minded or weak-willed. Another common example that has made its rounds in the news over the last several years is the notion of slut-shaming where, predominantly, women who are the victims of physical and sexual abuse are blamed for the act due to the way they dress or behave.
