Summary
If I was to have a cult, it would be a cult I created called HIP. HIP will be a cult with Hipsters only. I will be the leader who oversees all the research and people that I will allow in my cult. You have to be over 21 and you have to be open to exploring the other side. The other side endures and links with the light energy of everyone else in the history of existence, connecting into one great, universal life force. Our goal is to open up new spiritual experiences and possibly try to go to the other side using a certain type of method. The method we will be using to do this is psychedelic drugs such as psilocybin mushrooms, cannabis, and LSD. To do this, we will be located in Hawaii and New York City. There will be two different groups separated to see if we will get the same result. I will recruit my followers anonymously. I will have people who are already in my cult meet others who are interested in the spiritual world and have them convince newcomers to join our group. I feel like this can do good for others because it can give people the closure that they need when it comes to finding themselves or their loved ones. With all of the research that my cult and I have accumulated, we will release all the information to help others
A cult that is named The Ripper Crew was one of the most dangerous cults to have existed. They performed ritualistic ceremonies. They operated in Chicago in the early 80s and were composed of 4 members. One of the leaders, Robin Gecht, considered himself a Satanist and did horrible things to others. They committed many crimes but mostly focused on kidnappings, torturing, and killing young women. They would mutilate their victims and even eat some of their body parts. After doing these crimes, they would do satanic ceremonies. Authorities later arrested the leaders which led to imprisonment.
A cult is a group or movement that exhibits great or excessive devotion or dedication to some person, idea, or thing. These groups use a thought-reform program to persuade, control, and socialize members. Cults can be religious, psychotherapeutic, political, or commercial. The effect cults have on people is that they cause psychological harm to members, their families, and the community.

Hi Jailene,
This is so cool! I couldn’t come up with my own cult so I chose to reflect on an article, but I was super excited to see what other classmates would come up with. I really love how you chose two separate locations, as well as two groups to contrast the experiments/study. I would also recommend a control group so that you can collect data. As long as you have people sign documents that state they will be safe, I think this cult creates a solid foundation for people to find a community.
