Summary
As defined by Dr. Richard Paul, critical thinking is "the art of analyzing and evaluating thinking with a view to improving it." When we think, the first speaker described how we use our imagination to look for connections. This enables us to better comprehend how we and other people perceive the world. He also makes a number of comparisons, likening critical thinking to archeology in that it involves digging into our cognitive processes in order to find new information. He also draws parallels between the development of critical thinking and the way that creativity requires time and repetition. The second Ted Talk discusses how much kids desire to participate in their education and how we should challenge what society deems morally acceptable or unacceptable.
