Six Layer Sonic Study

Fall Semester 2025

Adobe Audition

Creative and Technical Process

This piece focuses on creating a multi layered, abstract soundscape driven purely by sonic texture and rhythm. I combined five external audio samples with one piece of original foley sound (the shaking of a pill bottle, used as a percussive element). The core of the mix is a complex, atmospheric Russian music track, around which I layered other sounds to build tension, using basic volume automation for dynamic mixing. The most challenging aspect was managing the DAW’s workflow, specifically correcting errors. I overcame this by methodically searching and practicing the basic editing functions (like deleting regions), which, though time consuming, improved my fundamental understanding of the software’s interface.

  1. This is an interesting start, but it doesn’t look like you have incorporated the feedback into this update. The overall piece is still mostly an existed song with some effects added in that muddy up the sound space more than add to the experience of listening to it. This project is more about mixing together sounds to tell a story or create a sense of place, this piece seems to simply add some effects on top of an existing piece of music.
