Hi Melissa!
Some of the tecniques I find usefull are to put the due date of my assigment on my personal calendar, and if it something really important i would even add an alert so I cant forget about it. This I usually do it at the exact moment I first learn about my assigments and due dates so there’s no chance I could forget about it!
Hi Juliana! It is so nice to have you in two of my classes. Looking forward to knowing you more!!
Hi Juliana It was nice meeting you In class!
Hello! My name is Tiana Colon, I am taking the hybrid course because it was part of the ECE class I wanted to take. What I love about myself is when I am really interested in a certain subject I really set my mind to it and this would be one of the subjects so I plan to work hard. I hope to stay on top of all my assignments and to keep a calendar for what important assignments to work on. I also hope to work well with my Professor and peers.
Thank you and Good Luck!
Tiana
Hey Tiana, that’s a great idea to get a calendar! Can’t wait for future discussions.
Hi Tiana that’s great that you use the calendar method, I myself use the same technique to keep track of all my assignments that are due. It also helps me stay organize.
Tiana,
Welcome to ECE-209-S 🙂 I am glad to hear that you are excited about the course. Using a calendar to write in assignment due dates is a great way to stay organized. Are there any other techniques you can use to manage your time to be successful in this class? What challenges could prevent you from using these techniques? & how will you deal with those challenges?
I hope you are finding OpenLab easy to navigate! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Jen or myself as we are here to support you throughout the course.
Hey Tiana, i agree with you i also have things written in a calendar as well, and when the course is interesting you give it more effort to do your best in class.
Tiana — Welcome to ECE 209-Seminar! Thanks for sharing! I know a calendar is very important for me to stay organized too! I look forward to getting to know & working with you!
Hey everyone! My name is Deborah Piton. I am taking the hybrid course as an requirement in pursuing my early childhood education. Something that I love about myself is that I care deeply about helping others, and making other people laugh. Techniques that I plan to help me manage my time to be successful in this class are 1. Checking in daily 2. Don’t leave assignments to the last minute. This will help me stay on top of my assignments and not fall behind. Unforeseen challenges that could prevent me from using these techniques, would be technical difficulties. How I plan to deal with those challenges is asking as much questions as possible and reaching out before due dates to get issues resolved.
So excited to building relationship with you all!
Hi Deborah, I love to see how hard you work and to stay on top of your assignments, I am the same way and hope to work with you sometime into the semester
Hey Deb, that’s a great point you made about not leaving assignments for the last minute, as a mom it’s sometimes challenging to do all my work on time but, I’ve been able to manage my time a lot better since not waiting to the last minute to do my school work.
Hey Erica, I too am a mom and am happy to know I’m not in this alone! It can be very challenging, so this semester I took advantage of leaving breaks in between classes to get some work done on campus.
Looking forward to working with you as well! 🙂
Deborah,
Welcome to ECE 209 -S 🙂 Caring about helping others and making people laugh is exactly what our field needs! Yes, checking in daily is important so you do not miss any important updates. You mentioned not leaving assignments until the last minute, what are some tools accessible to you daily that can be used to help you stay on top of class assignments?
I hope you are finding OpenLab easy to navigate! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Jen or myself as we are here to support you throughout the course.
Thank you Melissa 🙂 As Erica mentioned I plan to use my syllabus for due dates as well. I am so excited to have you as a SI.
Hi Deborah!
It was a nice surprise to see you again this semester! I share the techniques you use and I also find them very helpful! I try to get assignments done to get them out of the way so I dont overload myself with work.
I wish you good luck in your semester!
Hi Deb! I use the same techniques for myself, and it really does help! Yes, Procrastinating and leaving assignments for the end moment is not the way to success. Looking forward to knowing you more.
HI Deborah, I am so excited to build a relationship with you as well.
Deborah — Welcome to ECE 209-S! I look forward to getting to know & working with you too! any ideas of how you may deal with potential technical difficulties? Thanks for sharing!
Hello, my name is Erica Guance and I’m taking this course not only because it’s required for my major but because I will like to expand my knowledge on working with infants. One thing I love about myself is how friendly and nurturing I am. I guess being mom helped me grow into these habits. Two techniques I plan to use to help me manage my time management in this ECE class is, consistently checking the syllabus for important dates and using my calendar as a back reminder. I usually write all my assignment due dates and highlight each course to help me remember what’s due. This will help keep me organize on time with my classwork.
If there was one challenge that I feel may arise that may interfere with these techniques it will be the challenge I face with trying to balance mom life with school life. However, if this predicament may arise, I will seek out help to find other ways that may help me manage my time better.
Erica,
Welcome to ECE-209-S 🙂 Thank you for introducing yourself! Adding important due dates onto a calendar is a great technique to use. College life and personal life can become overwhelming throughout the semester but please remember, Jen and I are here to help support you. We hope to make your ECE -209 experience go as smooth as possible!
I hope you are finding OpenLab easy to navigate! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
taht can be very hard ! being a mom and in school but you got this ! being organized is a factor to class success!
Hi Erica, that is the perfect way to remind yourself of assignments. I do the same! Good luck to you !
Erica — Thanks for introducing yourself! A calendar helps to keep me organized too! Juggling being a student and a mom is a big responsibility! I look forward to getting to know and working with you this semester!
Hi. My name is Solanny Lopez and I’m taking this course because I would like to learn more about infants and I can’t wait to do so in this class. Something that I love bout myself is that I don’t give up no matter how hard life gets. I try my hardest to succeed and that is what I’ll do. Two techniques I plan to use to help me manage my time is not leaving everything until the last minute and making sure I do everything that’s due before time so I won’t be as stressed. These techniques will help me be successful in this online class because I will have everything done on time and I won’t have to worry about doing it or being confused last minute about everything. A challenge that could prevent me from using these techniques are family situations. I’ve been going through a lot of family situations so it’s sometimes hard for me to stay focused and have things done on time. I can deal with this by taking things slow and doing what I have to do day by day. I can always try to make time to try and get things done.
Hi Solanny, thank you for sharing the family situation with us, I am sure you will be able to overcome anything by trying not to stress yourself out and taking things slow as you said. Just remember, we all go through problems no one is perfect and that they wont last forever, if you ever need to talk to anyone we are all here for you.
Good luck :).
Solanny,
Welcome to ECE-209-S 🙂 Thanks for introducing yourself! Will you be using your calendar or an app to remind yourself of future assignments? I know you can do it! Please remember, Jen and I are here to help support you. We hope to make your ECE -209 experience go as smooth as possible!
I hope you are finding OpenLab easy to navigate! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
girl ! i know you gonna get it done your strong and you got this!
Hi Solanny, thanks for sharing about your situation and I hope the best for you. I am sure you will do well. Just stay focused and positive!
Solanny — Thanks for sharing! Persistence is a good quality to have! Coupling that with not procrastinating should ensure you have a successful semester! I am excited to get to know and work with you this semester!
Hi everyone, my name is Edisa Qavdarbasha, I am taking an hybrid course because am a full time student and sometimes to many face to face can get overwhelming. I love taking online classes and hybrid classes for some portions of my courses because it is much more convenient for me since I am very organized as well as good at managing my time, which helps me stay on track with all my work. Something that I love about myself is when I set my mind to accomplish something I do it no matter what obstacles come my way I try to overcome them. The techniques that I use to mange my time is 1) I never wait to the last minute to complete assignments, this helps me tons because not only does it relief some stress but also gives me time to fix any possible mistakes. 2) I have this to do list( notebook) where I write down all my assignments and the due dates, this helps me keep track of all my assignments and not forget anything. These techniques will help me succeed in this online class because It will help me keep up to date on my assignments. A challenge that could prevent me from using these techniques could be falling out of track and piling up work or not understanding my tasks. I am sure that these challenges will not occur and will prevent us from being successful, because we have our amazing professors that are here to help us be as successful as possible. I am exited to see what this class has to offer/in store for me, and very exited to get to know each and everyone of my classmates more.
Good luck everyone :).
Edisa,
Welcome to ECE-209-S 🙂 Thank you for introducing yourself! I like that you mentioned using the list method! This method is great to help stay organized because you are able to see due dates written out on one page. This is something I started doing for my classes and it helps keeping it in my bedroom (next to my written calendar) where I am able to see it before bed each night.
I hope you are finding OpenLab easy to navigate! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Jen or myself as we are here to support you throughout the course.
Hey Edisa, the to do list sounds like a good idea and a good way to keep track of what’s due. I might use it. Thank you hope you succeed with everything.
Hey Edisa, i like how you have a to do list book, you can look at what needs to be done, it is a very organized way to keep things, nice!
Hi Edisa, To do list really do sounds like a great idea so you’ll never fall off track. Im gonna start doing the same thing!
Hi Edisa I love the idea of to-do lists maybe I can use this idea to help myself this semester.
Hi Edisa!
TO-DO lists are the best! they can really help you get work done and also help you be more organized!
Thabks for sharing your techniques with us all!
Hi Edisa, I too have a to-do list book next to my bed. It really does help one decide and plan for advance. Good luck to you!
Edisa — Welcome! Being organized & managing time are factors that should support your success in ECE 209-Seminar! Your determination will help! We should compare “to-do” lists, I just keep adding to mine, then crossing off what I finish but I sometimes have several pages of things I have to do stapled together. I hope you will reach out if you do not understand your assignments.
Hi Edisa. I definitely think that a to-do list is the best way to keep track of assignments and due dates. And unfortunately procrastination is a bad habit of mine that I hope to overcome. Good luck to you as well 🙂
Hello everyone,
How is everyone doing? My name is Daisy Naula. I am taking a hybrid course because it was the only class i could take that would work well with my schedule since i am full time student and having 5 classes is tiring at times.Something i love about myself would be no matter what gets in my way, i try to keep a positive mind, although at times it can get hard i keep trying.
Two techniques i plan to use to manage my time would be always looking at when assignments are due and marking them on my calendar and always be engaged in my education by always checking the open lab for an assignments so i can be successful. By looking ahead i can see when things are due and it gives me a heads up of what i should accomplishing that week, by giving myself time i can also have time to read the readings given to me as well.
These two techniques will help me be successful in this online class because i can keep up with what is due each week, and i can always check open lab for the assignments .
Some challenges that could prevent me from using these techniques if i don’t speak out when i don’t understand an assignment and i end up not doing well for my assignments, either my computer or phone breaks down or the open lab is not accessible and i cant access the assignments. If i ever have to deal with that i would let the professor or the school know the open lab is accessible and if my technology breaks down, i can go to the library to access a computer to get my work done.
Hey Daisy!
I as well will be using time management as one of the techniques to succeed in this course along with marking the assignment due dates in my planner. I hope everything goes well for you this semester.
Hi daisy, taking a hybrid also fits well with my schedule and time management is also something that will help me in this course.
Daisy — Wow, 5 classes is a lot!!! Keeping a positive mindset is a wonderful quality! I hope you will reach out if you don’t understand an assignment or if you have a tech issue. There are hotspots and laptops you can borrow from the library at BMCC.
Hey yall ! my name is Sarah and im taking this course because it is required for my degree and also i cant wait to be helpful to young kids im excited and cannot wait for it all. One thing that i love about myself is that i am a strong young adult no matter what trials i go through i push through and make a way no matter how hard it gets i never give up! 2 techniques i would like to use to be successful in this course is staying engaged and time management therefore i know i will be engaged i want to keep that momentum and energy to ensure that i am intaking all the information. Time management is important especially when you have a busy life outside of school i want to make sure all my assignments are turned in on time ! Have a part time nearly a full time job is like a challenge for me because i have to balance being a working student and make sure i am excelling in my grades at the same time . I really look forward to building relationships with you guys I wish you all the best in this course.
Hey Sarah!
I totally understand where you are coming from having a part time/full time job and being a student is challenging when you have assignments/homework that are due but I know you got this and are going to do great this semester!.
Sarah, I love your enthusiasm for the field! Being persistent is a trait that can take you far in life! Staying engaged with the modules each week will help ensure you are aware of what’s due/ assignments. I look forward to getting to know and working with you this semester!
Hi everyone. It was so nice meeting and interacting with you all. My name is Vaishnavi. The reason why I’m taking this course is not only because it is an essential part of my degree but also because it will give me a better idea on how to work with infants. Since I was little, I have always loved working and being around little ones. The whole idea of them fascinates me. The one thing that I love about myself is that I am very patient especially when it comes to children. I also like the idea of learning new things in life!
The techniques that I plan to use to manage my time to be successful in this class are that I will be putting dates of when the assignments will be due to help me starting thinking about it in advance and so that I do not miss the due date of the same. Since, I have a bad habit of procrastinating, I will also be planning in advance so that I have enough time to work on my assignments. Though having to take 5 classes altogether is not easy, the technique that works best for me is that I make a schedule for myself for the whole week. The things that I have to cover in that specific week, including- the reading, learning and the assignments. These techniques will help me feel motivated and complete my assignments on time. The only challenge that could prevent me from using these techniques would be my other 4 classes that I am taking this semester. As this is the first time I am taking 5 classes altogether, I will be more focused and will push myself to do what is expected out of me. I wish this class brings out the best in all of us. I look forward to interacting and knowing you all! See you all soon
Hi, Im Shania Howell I am taking his course because I really enjoy working with kids. I want to be able to be apart of their growth and development and taking a hybrid course seems very interesting . One thing I love about myself isthat no matter what obstacles I may face I NEVER give up!
Hi everyone, my name is Amairany Hernandez and I am taking a hybrid course because it’s a requirement for my major and because I am really excited to learn more about infants/toddlers growth and development. Something I love about myself is that I am really friendly and nice, I love getting along with others.
Two techniques I plan to use to manage my time to be successful in this course are being engaged and time management. Being engaged and writing due dates and assignments in my planner so I don’t lose track or forget what I have to do. Time management, making sure I do what I have to do with enough time so if I need help or something goes wrong I would have enough time to fix whatever the problem is and still have my work done on time.
Some challenges that could prevent me from using those techniques are closing shifts at work and procrastination. I will deal with work by using the little time I have before my shift to do the work that has to be done along with the days I have off work. I will deal with procrastination by not leaving things for the last minute, and not making up excuses for not doing my work.
I agree with having a problem with procrastination, I struggle from that as well
Hi , Amairany , I too tend to leave stuff at the last minute, hopefully we both overcome this problem and have a great semester.
Hi, my name is Aalyah Ross and I am beyond excited to be taking this course. The reason behind taking this course is because it is an essential part of my degree, but not only that. I am also really excited to learn more about infant/toddlers growth and development. Growing up in a big family has played a part in the reason why i would like to work with children. I am the last of 8 and an aunt to 3 nieces and 3 nephews so I do a lot of babysitting, I’ve grown to love watching and being around kids. One thing I love about myself is the fact that I am emphatic. I tend to put myself in everyones shoes and try to understand where they are coming from.
Two techniques that I plan to use to be successful in this course is organization as well as time management. I tend to write down everything in my planner like when it’s due, when I need to get started and for what class I need it done for. As for time management, I plan to get my assignments done either before or on time, but ideally before the due date.
Some challenges that could prevent me from using those techniques is my job as a model, it is very demanding at times. Also helping out around the house. Being the only girl left in my house, my mom needs more help around the house now more than ever. I also struggle a lot with procrastination, I tend to put things off until the last moment which can be very detrimental to me and my grades. Although I do have these obstacles, I don’t plan on making excuses for my work and I plan to overcome them as well.
Hi, Aaliyah I too struggle with procrastination
Hey Aaliyah procrastination is the worst and that is why these techniques will help us over come it. Hopefully we can overcome the procrastination and get these assignments on time.
Hi my name is Kimberly Cohetero, I am taking a hybrid course because it fits my schedule very well since I am a mo.something interesting of my self, is that I love music , and I love children , I am fascinated how intelligent they are and how there mind develops quickly.
Two techniques I plan for this semester is time management and being organized. these techniques will help me because I will make sure I do my work before its due and I won’t be overwhelmed, being organized because I will keep in track all my paper work and online work.
some challenges are , I tend to leave things last minute , however I planned to set reminders on my phone this would help me remember because I mostly always have my phone on me.
Hi Kimberly, setting reminders are the best way to say on top of assignments
Hi, Im Shemella Scipio and taking this hybrid course because it when with my work schedule. Something I love about myself is my leadership ability. Two techniques I plan to use to manage time to be successful is not waiting last minute to complete work and setting reminders on my phone. These two techniques will help me stay on top of assignments. Challenges that can prevent me from using these techniques are technical issues, that why I plan on submitting assignments as early as possible.
Hey fellow classmates, my name is Ana Amaya. I am taking this hybrid class because it was a great fit for my class schedule. One thing I love about myself is always being able to be happy and have a smile one my face. Two techniques I can use to stay engaged in this on-line class is to not leave all my homework until the last minute. I can also create a list to help me finish the tasks with more priority first. The two techniques mentioned here can really help me stay focused and less stressed. Challenges that may prevent me from using these techniques can be me procrastinating on assignments and not use the list, or also forget to make the list in order to follow it.
Hi Ana I do agree. Making a list is a great way to assist in completing tasks or assignments.
To add on to my post I will try my best to work on not forgetting anything to the best of my abilities and cutting the procrastination time shorter.
Hello classmates, my name is Cachoeira Norris. But you can call me Cachi. I am taking this hybrid class because I felt that it fit for my schedule and its also something that piqued my interest and matches with my desired major. One thing I love about myself is that I’m able to play an instrument, the violin. And that I love dancing. Two techniques I can use to stay engaged in this class is to try my best to finish my homework as soon as possible before the due date. I can also use reminders to help me finish my to do’s and tasks without forgetting to do so. The two techniques I mentioned here can really help me stay focused and prevent oncoming stress. Challenges that may prevent me from using these techniques would be me delaying assignments or in other words procrastinating and not creating reminders that help me to complete them. Another challenge is that I also play in two different orchestras, one as a general member and the other as a college professional that allows me to help/assist other high school or college students who want to learn to play a string instrument like mine. I also dance and do violin lessons on Saturdays. To try and over come these challeneges, I will try and manage my time as best I can and make time to take rests as I try to complete assignments over the time of this course.
I have reviewed this module
Beverlee Spencer
1)Hybrid allows me to find work and complete my education goals. The plan is to add my associate degree in early childhood education to work in EI.
2) I love my strength and enthusiasm. It the evidence of God who strengthens me. He is with me always. The key to success is to stay motivated and engage. The only problem right now is my computers on the blank and I have to complete my assignments at the library is causing a lot of problems when the when there’s a holiday in a lot of carries all close then I have to result to use of my phone.

Taking this hybrid class will expand my learning on early childhood education
