  1. 1. What did you learn from the movie?
    I learned from the movie how infants from all over the world, born into the world but their culture affects how they develop.
    2. What struck you from the movie? Why?
    What struck me from the movie is how in Mongolia they leave the infant at home alone with a sibling and the parents go out to the field and work
    3. What scene(s) from the movie was most memorable for you? Why?
    A scene that was memorable to me was when they showed each infant the first few days of life after being born and how tiny and cute each infant was.
    4. Why do you think we watched this movie?
    We watched this movie because it helps us have an insight into how a child’s culture can affect how they eat/feed, dress, what they typically do in a day.
    5. How will this movie help you be a better infant/ toddler professional?
    This movie will help me become a better infant/toddler professional because it shows me how it is important to educate myself to the different cultures and learn about the infant and their families and learn how adapt myself to them and not force an infant to change what they are used to in their own culture.

  2. 1. What did you learn from the movie? – I learned that all babies around the world have different cultural aspects of growing up. It is based on their situation, and their accessibility to things.

    2. What struck you from the movie? Why? – What struck me was that in Namibia, mothers use their saliva to clean the baby because they do not have access to water and basic necessities.

    3. What scene(s) from the movie was most memorable for you? Why? – The scenes where babies are just born and the cries are the most memorable moment I experienced in the movie.

    4. Why do you think we watched this movie? – Because it will teach us how culture affects a babies growth and their development. It gives us an insight to how mothers deal with babies and their situations.

    5. How will this movie help you be a better infant/ toddler professional? – I now am aware of different situations that babies are in. It taught me to be more considerate about cultural aspects and not everyone is as privileged as I thought they are.

  3. 1. After watching the Babies movie Ive learned that every cuture has a way in that their beliefs and values define the way they raise their children. I also learn that the way many cultures raise their children relies on the opportunities they have in life.
    2. Many things struck me from the movie, from the family in Namibia, the way the mother fed her babies, they didnt have any water or electricity and yet the kids seemed happy with that they have. From Japan, when the woman gives birth, the nurse that gets the baby ready wraps a thick blanket aroun the baby and the proceesd to tighten the blanket at the high of his arms and legs with a s string, making sure he is tight. I felt worried that the baby wasnt able to strecht his little legs and arms and this made me feel unconfortable.Asia, when the baby is falling asleep theres a huge rooster walking around him, and noboy was watching him and making sure he was safe.
    3.When the moms feed their babies, with nature around and pretty much in the wild. I dont remember seen it before and watching this women do so made me feel kind of empowerd. Women are way stronger than what the society we live in thinks of.
    4. I believe we watched this movie to learn how different cultures, values and beliefs give shape to life. How it helps babies develop in every single aspect.
    5. This movie will help me become a better infant/toddler professional in a way that with the hand of previous articles we have read in the past, we had to see it from actual families in different cultures perform parenting, and handle situations on a daily basis counting only with whatever they have and nothing else. With this movie I keep on learning how everybody is different, and how understanding we as future educators need to be.

  4. What did you learn from the movie?I learned about how different cultures handle their babies.
    What struck you from the movie? Why? It struck me how families from Mongolia leave their babies at home by themselves while they go out.
    What scene(s) from the movie was most memorable for you? Why? The scene that was most memorable to me was when the bird came close to the baby and the baby was just looking at it. It was so cute.
    Why do you think we watched this movie? So that we can get a clearer picture of different cultures and how their everyday routines are.
    How will this movie help you be a better infant/ toddler professional – The movie will help me become a better professional because I can understand that every family is different and cultures are different and this can affect a child’s everyday life in school because they may be used to something different at home. I have to be able to input these things in a curriculum to make it similar to home.

  5. 1.What did you learn from the movie? I learn that all families and children and raised differently and have different cultural backgrounds.
    2.What struck you from the movie? Why? I think for me the one thing that struck me was how children had to be left alone, while their mom/families had to go to work.
    3.What scene(s) from the movie was most memorable for you? Why? I think the 2 brothers in the beginning interacting when on bit the other and in return the brother slapped him was most memorable because my first reacting was, where are the parents they shouldn’t allow that, then I realize this is how the babies are learning from each other and developing their language and social skills.
    4.Why do you think we watched this movie? To get an idea of how other children are raised and to make us aware of different culture backgrounds. As teachers we will have children who come from different backgrounds and cultures like these children.
    5.How will this movie help you be a better infant/ toddler professional? Having the knowledge of how all children are different and raised differently will help me give individualize care for each child and their needs.

    – Something that I learned from the movie is that the first few years of a child/s life impacts the way they grow up.
    What struck you from the movie? Why?
    – Many different things struck me from the movie but one thing is how mothers in Namibia don’t have access to water and other things to take proper care of their child, so they use their own saliva to clean them off.
    What scene(s) from the movie was most memorable for you? Why?
    -A scene that was the most memorable to me was honestly seeing all of the cute little babies. They looked so adorable the whole time.
    Why do you think we watched this movie?
    -I feel like we watched the movie because it shows all of the different cultures around the world. It shows that kids have different ways to be cared for and that we as upcoming caregivers have to keep that in mind.
    How will this movie help you be a better infant/ toddler professional?
    -This movie will help me become a better infant/ toddler professional because it helps us have a better understanding for each child and their families daily routines.

    • Hey Isis, I definitely agree with all of your responses. Especially with number two I had the same reaction it was very surprising to see how the family had so little but the family seemed so happy with the little that they had. And also very sad that some countries have everything and some don’t have the basic things.

  7. 1). What did you learn from the movie? The movie basically speaks about the importance of every culture and the way they raise their children. Every child is raised differently with different beliefs and then they develop based on their surroundings.
    2). What struck you from the movie? Why? There were many things that struck me about the family in Namibia, one of them was the way they that the family had so little but we’re so happy with what they had. For example the family didn’t have any water or basic necessities such as electricity that we take for granted everyday.
    3). What scene(s) from the movie was most memorable for you? Why? The scene where all babies are born, because that is a very beautiful moment for everyone when you have a child coming into this world.
    4). Why do you think we watched this movie? I believe we watched this movie to teach us the importance of how culture can have an impact on a child, and how different ways people raise their children based on their cultures and their access to necessities.
    5). How will this movie help you be a better infant/ toddler professional? This movie helps me become a better infant/ toddler profession because working with different children that come from different backgrounds it is important to have a picture in our head of how children are raised in different countries, this way we can better respect and understand others. Having an open mind is very important especially when working with children and families that come from different cultures and have different beliefs.

  9. What did you learn from the movie? I learned about the different cultures, practices, and beliefs of families around the world.

    What struck you from the movie? Why? What struck me about this movie was how tight the Asian family swaddled the baby. I was actually kind of impressed because my swaddles are not that great and always fall apart. A technique I would be interested in learning more about.

    What scene(s) from the movie was most memorable for you? Why? The most memorable scene was when the African mom was using the knife to scrap the babies head then used the blood to massage the babies scalp. This made me really sad and concerned that the baby was in pain.

    Why do you think we watched this movie? I believed we watched this movie to get a better understanding of different culture around the world. Our norm is not the same as families who have different cultures than us.

    How will this movie help you be a better infant/ toddler professional? This movie will help me become a better teacher because it gives me an insight of different cultures around the world. With this information I can use to better serve the different families I plan to work with. No two family are alike and ultimately I’m open to treating families however way they want to be treated.

    The fact that the babies are left alone while their mothers work

    3. What scene(s) from the movie was most memorable for you? Why?
    The scene where all babies are born, because that is a very beautiful moment for everyone when you have a child coming into this world. My mother describes a lot of the time to me how she and my dad felt when I was born. Another was all of the shots and moments of each baby after a few days of being born. And the last was when a bird approached a baby and the baby was looking at it. It was an adorable baby-bonding-with-nature moment.

    4. Why do you think we watched this movie?
    We watched this movie to get a very detailed explanation of how babies are brought into this world, how they develop, what happens after they’re born, how they develop and grow. We also gain a better understanding of how children are born into families with different cultures and backgrounds all around the world.

    5. How will this movie help you be a better infant/ toddler professional?
    This will help me be a better professional by giving me an understanding of the way children are, as well as the cultures they come from
