Professor Office Hours

Hi scholars, Have you tapped into the resource of Professor office yet? Meeting with your Professors is a great way to see where you stand academically and seek guidance from your Professors. It also let’s your Professors know that you want to be a successful student and pass their class. If you haven’t done so already here at GAINS we encourage you to schedule a meeting with your Professors.

Wellness is much more than just physical health, exercise, or nutrition. It is the full integration of physical and mental well-being for optimal productivity. Make wellness a priority always. Whether you’re at school, work or home, it’s important to maintain a healthy mind, body and spirit.

This Wellness Wednesday, write out your goals for the month and put them somewhere that can be easily read each day.

Thoughtful Thursday: Positive Thinking

Almost everyone has mixed feelings about their college experience. Know what you can control and what you cannot control when situations feel absolutely chaotic. Start each day with a positive affirmation and take charge of your thoughts.

Tuesday Tip: Using Academic Resources

During times of distress, students may be reluctant to ask for help. BMCC has various offices, centers, services, and academic departments that provide programs, support and resources that are available to students. You may not need them right away, some may not need at all. Here’s a list of options and where to find the services.

Thoughtful Thursday: Roadmap to Taking the LASSI

What Is LASSI?

The Learning and Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI) is a 64-question assessment that measures factors that influence your academic performance. The LASSI takes 10-15 minutes to complete.

After completing the LASSI, a two-page report will be displayed listing your scores for each of ten scales. Your scores should help you understand more about yourself and how you compare to others who have taken this assessment. With these results you and the help of your Academic Success Advocate you can take steps to make meaningful improvements to your learning and study skills; personal tools that impact your success as a student.
