Taking some feedback from the previous submission. And fighting with making a convincing shadow for a while, a new idea sprang up, if I couldn’t create a convincing shadow, I would remove the need for it. I adjusted the position of the Mandelorian in the frame. Creating a new mask from the background to bring one of the cannons forward so that the character could be positioned beside/behind it. I also spent a little time playing with the levels a little more so the character would not be completely in shadow and retain a little more detail. I felt adding any text, or additional details would make it messy and detract from the simpler nature of it all.

I decide to use the same concept of my last post but a little different, I wanted to use a realistic volcano background and mix it with non realistic characters. The moon and stars are added to make it seem more like a drawing. I added the moon and stars by using the object selection tool and duplicating the stars and placing them where i wanted them to go.

For this project I created a composite image of a camel with a cat navigating through the desert. I used the gradient tool to create a bright red and orange sky to define the harsh environment of the desert. I then used the blur effect around the camel and cat to show contrast between them. And how hard their journey through the desert is.

For this project I thought it would be interesting to use my own photography and sculpture. I’m looking at the shadows and the light and how they interact. The background image is of the stairs and handrail outside of my neighbors house. On top of that I applied a photo of a wooden sculpture. I also layered in a photo of fabric. I chose Swirl random lines from Openclipart to make a pattern that I placed over the entire image because I liked the marks and how free they were, I thought they contrasted well with the heaviness of the sculpture and the handrail. I titled the work Loose Threads because of the thinness of lines in the pattern also the threads that are visible from the photo of fabric in the lower-left corner of the image.

This is my simple color and shape composition. I thought of using colder colors and triangle as my shape, that combination created an interesting color contrast with layer blending.

I created an image of a comic book character “Galactus” Choosing, scouting earth as his next planet to consume. I thought him being less visible created more godliness to his design.
