Welcome to the Sensory Orb story adventure game finalized. I made some adjustments per the feedback that was received previously and created a quick link at the end of each storyline for an easy restart.
https://naritai.itch.io/mmp-270-twine-0 My Twine game is called Kindness Isn’t Key. It’s a slightly subversive dating-sim style story that starts with a girl staring at you while you sleep.
The feedback I received was mainly that its a good start but needs to be longer and lead somewhere. People also liked the subversive aspects. I agreed with this feedback completely and strived to make a somewhat subversive story that was still complete, self-contained, and satisfying to read; which was a fun challenge because of the strange premise. I also received lots of feedback from friends in regards to the pacing of the story that I found very helpful.
I find that visual novels that exist solely to make fun of dating-sims are pretentious, so despite being lighthearted and comedic, I wanted to include a little emotional heart to tie it all together. I find games in this kind of genre are generally looked at as cringe, but I think there’s a lot of great dating-sims and other visual novels out there, so I wanted to take the writing seriously. I would say this is mainly inspired by the writing in visual novels I’ve read from the developer Key (which is where the title idea came from) such as Clannad, Air, and Kanon.
What I got from peoples Comments was they like the choice between Nike & Adidas They ask for more outcomes & consequences I will make more scenarios but make them link back to the starting point in some ways like adding a multi-pathways system in the game but it leads to different ends based on your choices
I added a simple variable tracking how much a character likes or dislikes you, similar to a visual novel/dating-sim. I’m still unsure of how to continue with the weird premise, but I find using variables in this way to be interesting and able to open up a lot of possibilities; I am planning to make a cute little self-contained story with just one good and one bad ending.
This is my progress. I added more paths. I want to have different endings to make it much more fun. Some of them repeat depending on the decisions that are taken.
My story is about a boy named Jimmy who wakes up in a very strange and scary place after losing consciousness. He will have to find a way out, but… will he succeed? I’m still working on it.
Started my Twine project about the reader waking up to strange girl staring at them. I’m not sure where this story will go, but it was helpful with learning the basics.
