I present to you, a Mandalorian manning the cannons as my composite. I adjusted the levels a little. Though mainly worked with a gradient mask to turn it black and white and a photo filter combined with some noise and a spherical gradient overlay to really try and capture that grungy old crappy camera vibe.
For my images I used this cosplay photo: Costume_Pageant_Mandalorian_at_Star_Wars_Celebration_IV.jpg (533×800)
And for the background this photo of Cape Coast in Ghana: Cape_Coast_Castle_in_Ghana_9.jpg (5184×3456)
I love how you combined the black and white gradient mask with the photo filter, it really brings out that Mandalorian vibe while keeping things raw and cinematic. It kind of gives off the feel of a video game scene blending WWII with Star Wars. I’m curious, how did you figure out the orientation of the Mandalorian’s shadow? Seems tricky! Either way, great job!
The shadow is just a copy of the Mandalorian cut out but all black and using the transform skew took just squishing and skewing it to the side on a separate layer, dropping the opacity and using multiply to make it interact with the image underneath a little more realistically like a shadow and viola. It’s a pain to get the shadow to orient like the rest of the shadows in the image though, I kinda gave up on making it look perfect.
