Language Development: Self Reflection

After completing the modules in ECE 209 Lecture and Seminar I learned how infant teachers can support infant language and communication skills, the different theories of language acquisition and the influence of culture in infant-toddler child care settings. While reading the “Kovach & Da Rosvoseles (2011) article I gained insight on why it’s important to demonstrate and model to other adults how important it is to acknowledge and include babies in conversations , more effective approaches to communicating with children which will convey a personal , respectful and response message to them. This material will now allow me to think about babies likes and dislikes when communicating with them.

  2. In this material I learned about theory of language, communication with babies and appropriate questions for a family interview. I learned from the reading how important is it to values and understanding people’s culture and background also ways to embrace them and make them feel comfortable. I also learned about respectful ways to communicate and approach babies. This article will definitely help me in my future because I gained a lot of information that I’m going to apply them.

  3. In this module, I learned the importance of language and communication with infants. Although they’re babies, its important to speak to them in a soft tone and to let them know what it is you plan on doing before you do it.

  4. After completing this week’s modules for ECE 209-Lecture and Seminar I learned that it is important for babies to know what is happening next reduce anxiety. Also when an adult acknowledges and speaks directly to a baby by name tells the baby she is respected as an individual, which connect to one of my goals treat all babies with respect.
