During this weeks modules for ECE 209 Lecture and Seminar , I’ve learned how to understand the influence of culture on caregiving practices , the knowledge of culturally informed teaching as well as being able to identify the importance of why adults should model healthy emotional regulation. After reading the “Darling-Bohlander (2014) article located in module 6 of ECE-209 Lecture, I learned the steps to the cycle of regulating emotions as well as why a cognitive filter is important for emotional regulation . This material helps and supports me to meet my goals because I can apply knowledge of infant development and care practices that recognize the importance of social and cultural influences.

  2. This weeks module taught me the importance of culture in teaching and why its so important for educators to be aware of the different cultures. this module’s content gave me a better insight on what I should know for the future to shape me into becoming a better educator.

  3. This week’s modules for ECE 209-Lecture and Seminar what I learned that connects to my goals is that infants make sense of their world through interactions. The material from these modules helped and supported me meet my goals is to better understand the adult’s role in helping children learn to self regulate, to provide opportunities for children to learn new self soothing skills,practice over time the ability they need to regulate and calm themselves more independently.
