Books

While this is an OER course and there is no textbook, here are a few books that might be of interest to you as animators. Some are available in the BMCC library, though not sure how that is going to work this semester.

The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation by Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston. The 12 principles, history of early Disney studio.

The Animator’s Survival Kit by Richard Williams. Advice, tips and tricks for traditional 2D animation. Here’s a video intro for the DVD version.

Timing for Animation by Harold Whitaker and John Halas. Techniques of animation for creating movement.
