Activities for June 14 Session

Dear All,

Thanks so much for all your contributions this week. We hope that the activities and conversations you’ve been engaging in have helped you to begin refining your ideas about the space you will create for your class on the OpenLab. Next week, we’ll take a deeper dive into the mechanics of building your site, while maintaining a focus on asset pedagogies and open education.

We have a few activities that we would like you to complete before our next Zoom session on Tuesday, June 14:

Create a conceptual sketch of your site
Using your OpenLab Course Site Hopes and Dreams Worksheet as a guide, create a conceptual sketch of your site. You can do this using the software of your choice, or you can draw it by hand.

Share your sketch with our community
Upload your sketch as a file in our community profile. If you drew your sketch by hand, use your  phone to take a picture to upload. Our interactions in the community profile can only be viewed by community members, whereas interactions on our website are visible publicly.

  • If possible, name your file “Site Sketch Firstname Lastname” before you upload it. That will make it easier for others to know who it belongs to when viewing it.
  • Under description, add a few sentences about your vision for your course sketch.

You can view the sketches that folks share by going to the files area of our community profile.

Share your Course Site Hopes and Dreams worksheet with Team Open
Upload the worksheet you completed last week to our Dropbox folder. We’ll review the worksheets and tailor the rest of this seminar to what you all tell us you’re planning.

Create your course profile and site
Create your space on the OpenLab by following these instructions. You’ll be working in the space you create during the hands-on portions of next week’s sessions.

Ask questions!
For the rest of June, we’ll be available to answer questions on Zoom every Wednesday from 2:30 – 3:30 and Thursday from 1:30 – 2:30. We’ve added an extra help hour this coming Monday, June 13, from 3:00 – 4:00.

You can also ask questions in the Discussion area of our community profile, which is only viewable by members of this community. These instructions will help you get started.

all best,

Team Open

Gina, Syelle, Tom, jean, Rachael, and Raquel
