This week I learned about play reading, math and play for infants self reflection. I learned about best toys for children to play with, cognitive development, divergent thinking, material that caregiver should provide for children etc.. these information were really helpful and knowledgeable for my future to help me support my goals.
In this week’s modules for ECE 209 Lecture and Seminar I’ve learned the best practices in engaging with families who have infants, learning ways infant teachers can build on children’s play, being able to recognize the importance of embedding math in classrooms as well as knowing which toys are used to support infant and toddler learning and development. All of these materials from these readings help and support me to meet my goals by being able to develop an environment and curriculum that best supports infant learning in all domains which will allow me to continue in flourishing as a teacher.
In this week’s module, I learned different ways and resources that I as an educator can use as toys for children. Prior to reading the article, I wouldve never guessed that I could use a muffin pan as a toy for math skills. this was an extremely interesting read and I’ll definitely use these resources in the future.
What did you learn in this week’s modules for ECE 209-Lecture and Seminar that connects to your goals? This module helped me see how everyday routines and tasks can also be learning for children or even adults such as laundry can be math as you are classifying and sorting by color and material.
It helped me realize that these everyday routines can be great teaching opportunities for myself and my students as an educator.
