Pride Mentoring Network

In the Fall of 2023, we launched the BMCC Pride Mentoring Network. Students are paired with a faculty or staff member at BMCC to who will help students navigate college and provide them with support throughout their time at BMCC. Mentors will also establish a way to maintain accountability of mentees in their goals. We will pay mentees a small stipend for participation throughout the academic year. Mentorship is a great way to get support, feel connected, and reach your goals! Throughout the year, we will host several events for mentors, students, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community to get together to learn, socialize, and celebrate each other.

If you are interested in becoming a mentee, please fill out the interest form and check out the mentor bios. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please know that you are volunteering your time to support students. We ask that you have some time that you can devote to meetings with your mentee, attending our events, and participating in the LGBTQIA+ life of the college. We also ask that you be a part of the LGBTQIA+ community or queer-identified.

For questions, please contact Brian Kelley at bkelley@bmcc.cuny.edu or Yuliya Shneyderman at yshneyderman@bmcc.cuny.edu

The Pride Mentoring Network is made possible due to generous funding from the New York City Council Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual Caucus and the Office of the Mayor, and supported by The LaGuardia and Wagner Archives.
