Video 1 – Baby Angelina is using her gross motor skills as she uses her legs and arms to climb and pull herself up the steps to the slide. She was also able to transition herself, using both her gross and fine mother skills. After using her arms and hands to push herself down the slide. She pushed herself up off the floor again using her arms and hands and continue to walk around the slide to climb up the steps and push herself down the slide again and again.
Video 2 – This baby used her gross motor skills to bend her back and extended her arms and grab the paper box. She then used her fine motor skills as she uses her hand independently to bring the toy to her mouth, then finally uses her reflexes to open her mouth as she puts the box to her mouth.
Video 3 – This baby used his gross motor skills to crawl to the toy that was on the floor, he also held his head up while crawling. He was able to use this legs, arms and knees to push himself while crawling. He was able to transition from crawling to sitting and was able sit without falling over. After using getting to the toy he used his fine motor skills to reach for the toy and used his hands independently to put the toy to his mouth. He then used his reflex skills to open his mouth as he put the to his mouth and seems to bite on the toy.
I like how you explained what the baby did for the gross and fine motor skills
Hey Erica, I like how you explained it in many details.
Erica — Thanks for your detailed insights! You captured the transitions that happen in videos #1 & 3! In video #2, she is grasping objects, is she voluntarily letting go of objects?
video 1:GROSS MOTOR SKILLS AND PROCESSES: Lift head, Lift chest, sit, Stand alone, walk, climb.
FINE MOTOR SKILLS AND PROCESSES: Use hands independently.
Video 2: GROSS MOTOR SKILLS AND PROCESSES: Reflexes, Lift head, lift chest, sit.
FINE MOTOR SKILLS AND PROCESSES: Reach for object, pass object hand to hand, let go of
object.
Video 3:GROSS MOTOR SKILLS AND PROCESSES: Reflexes, lift head, lift chest, turns and roll over, sit,
crawl.
FINE MOTOR SKILLS AND PROCESSES: Reach for object, grasp object.
Hey Juliana, I like how you used vocabulary words from the chart that was provided to us.
Juli — Thanks for your post! In video #2 does that baby “drop” the object, of voluntarily let go of it? In video #1 and #3, did you catch the transitions — #1 from standing to sitting and #3 from sitting to crawling?
Video 1: Gross motor skills and processes- baby is able to lift head and chest, pull herself up the stairs, stand alone, walk, and climb.
Fine motor skills- grabbed the rail to go up steps, lets go of rail to go down slide, uses hands independently.
Video 2:Gross motor skills and processes- lift head, sit, and reflexes
Fine motor skills and processes- Reach object, grasp object, pass object hand to hand, uses hands independently, lets go of objects.
Video 3:Gross motor skills and processes-crawl, lift head and chest, sit, reflexes
Fine motor skills- reach object, grasp object, and used hands independently.
Tiana — Thanks for sharing — I like how you posted fine & gross motor skills separately! In video #1 & 3, did you catch the transitions? Video #1 she went from standing to sitting and #3 from sitting to crawling. In video #2, good catch that she passed the object between 2 hands! Do you think she dropped the object intentionally or accidentially?
Video #1: Gross motor skills: she stands alone and starts to walk to the slide to go up the steps while holding on to the top of the slide until she gets on top. She would go up and down the slide. She would transition from sitting to standing and walking back to the steps of the slide and she would do this over and over again.
Fine motor skills: She would grab the top of the slide while walking up.
Video #2 : Gross motor skills: the baby is sitting bending her back and moving her arms to grab the box.
Fine motor skills: The baby would reach for the box and grab it to put it back in her mouth.
Video #3: Gross motor skills: lift head, lift chest, sits, crawls, transitions from sitting to crawling and back to sitting when he reaches the toy.
Fine motor skills: Reaches for the toy and grabs it. Then puts it in his mouth.
Solanny — Thanks for your insights! In video #1, did she climb too? In video #1 & 3, good catch with the transitions — in #1 she transitions from sitting to standing and in #3 from sitting to crawling!
1. In the first video, the baby Angelina uses her fine motor skills when she first walks to the slide and reaches the slide and grasps the railing of the slide. She uses her gross motor skills when she walks up the steps of the slide while holding the railing. She then lets go of the railing and slides down, using her hands to push up her body and then walks to the steps of the slide and does the same process again.
2. In the second video, the 6-month-old baby is using her fine motor skills to grasp the cardboard box to chew on. She lets go of it and then reaches for the object again and pinches the box using her right hand to bring it back to her body.
3. In the third video, the infant uses a gross motor from sitting first and transitioning to a crawling mode to use the fine motor skills to reach for the object and grabbing it and ultimately placing it into the mouth.
Daisy — Thanks for your post! In video #3 you captured the transition from sitting to crawling! Did you see it in video #1 too when she went from standing to sitting? In video #2, she was chewing on the box — does that mean she brought objects to her mouth?
1). Video #1: Fine Motor – Baby Angelina uses her arms to grab the edge of the slide in order to pull herself. Gross Motor- Slides can help in many developments as the body is in motion and the head can be placed in different positions. It is also a great motor activity, as it requires the child to climb the stairs of the slides, balance on one foot and shift her weight during stair climbing.
2). Video #2: Fine Motor- The baby uses her hands to grab on to the box and place it in her mouth. Gross Motor- the baby is able to use her reflexes as she moves her arms from her mouth and comes back again. Also when she alternates her arms in order to pass the box from one hand to another.
3). Video #3: Gross Motor- The baby uses his fine motor by crawling and using his hands to move his body in order to get the toy. Fine Motor- the baby uses fine motor skills to grab the toy using his hands and by using mouth reflexes and placing the toy in the mouth.
Edisa — Thanks for your input! Did you notice Angelina transition from standing to sitting in video #1 too?
Video 1: Gross motor skills were walking up steps (holding railing), climbing , lifting head, pulling to stand, walking, sitting, and standing alone. Fine motor skills are using hands independently.
Video 2: Gross motor skills were lifting head and chest, and sitting. Fine motor skills were reaching for objects, grasping them (objects), letting go of them (objects), and using hands independently.
Video 3: Gross motor skills were lifting head and chest, sitting, transitioning to crawling. Fine motor skills were reaching for objects and grasping the objects.
Ana — Thanks for your post! You captured the transition in video #3 from sitting to crawling! Did you see the transition from standing to sitting? In video #2, do you think each of her hands were doing different tasks at the same time (using hands independently)? Did she “drop” the object or intentionally let it go?
Video 1 (Gross Motor Skills): Baby Angelina uses her hands for pulling/ holding on to stand, and her legs for walking up steps.
(Fine Motor Skills): Uses hands to grab rails and let go
Video 2 (Gross Motor Skills): The baby is sitting and bending back and moving her arms
(Fine Motor Skills): Baby reaches for box and put it in her mouth
Video 3 (Gross Motor Skills): Baby starts sitting, then moves on to crawling

Aalyah — Thanks for your input! You separated fine & gross motor skill, which makes it easier to see! In video #1, did you see any climbing? Or transitioning from standing to sitting? In video #3, did you see the transition from sitting to crawling?
Video 1 (Gross motor skills) – Baby Angelina walked and pulled herself up the stairs, holding the railing of the slide, she climbed up using her hands, and then sat on the slide. When she slides down, she lifts her head and got up using her balance of her legs and walked back again to do the same.
(Fine motor skills)- In order to climb on the slide, she had to grasp the slide by her hands and palm and let go of it when she was ready to slide down.
Video 2 (Gross motor skills)- The baby sat on one spot, bending down again and again and tried moving her arms to get the hold of the box that she was playing with.
(Fine motor skills)- The fine motor skills that she used was reaching out for the box, grasping it with her hands, slipping it off from her hands by letting go of it. The baby also used her hands independently to grasp the object and put it in her mouth.
Video 3 (Gross motor skills)- The baby sat and then crawled towards the toy.
(Fine motor skills)- Used her hands to reach out for the toy, grasped it and then used her hands independently to put it in her mouth.
