Get a Library Card
Anyone who lives, works, goes to school, or pays property taxes in New York State can get a Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) library card. You can apply online to receive a Welcome Card, which gives you immediate access to the library’s digital collections and some other resources. You can then visit a branch within 60 days, present a government-issued ID that shows your name and current address, and receive a full-access library card.
Explore the BPL’s Collection
Search the BPL’s catalog for books, movies on DVD, and music and other recordings on CD. These materials can be checked out from one of the BPL’s many locations. When using the catalog, be sure to check which location or locations hold the item you want to check out.
Explore the BPL’s E-books and Audiobooks
Get e-books and audiobooks through the BPL, use its online resources, and search its digital collections featuring the history and culture of Brooklyn—all without leaving your home.
Explore the BPL’s Other Collections
You can also borrow board games, a telescope, and musical instruments from the BPL.
