Details
This session centers on helping faculty ensure that course technologies support learning. We will examine how to clearly communicate required technical skills, scaffold student technology use, and streamline course menus for ease of access. Attention is given to evaluating third‑party tools for accessibility compliance and transparency around privacy policies. Faculty leave with strategies for proactively supporting students’ technical readiness while minimizing confusion and accessibility concerns.
Session #2 of a 6-part series: BMCC’s Course Design Workshop Series supports faculty in the design, review, and continuous improvement of their courses across all modalities (in‑person, hybrid, or online). The series introduces the BMCC Course Rubric—a locally adapted framework based on the SUNY Online Course Quality Review Rubric (OSCQR)—as a shared resource to guide quality, accessibility, and usability in course design. Each session features a guided “think‑aloud” review of a faculty partner’s Brightspace course site, offering authentic, real‑time examples that promote reflective practice and actionable feedback.
Designed as a collaborative experience, the series is open to faculty across ranks, disciplines, and teaching modalities who are interested in refreshing or enhancing the online components of their courses. Faculty are welcome to attend individual sessions or the entire series; those who participate in all six sessions will receive a certificate of completion.
