Details

The final workshop of the series addresses how assessments and feedback support learning and improvement. We will examine best practices for transparent grading policies, authentic assessment design, and aligned rubrics. We will address topics such as timely feedback, learner self‑assessment, accessibility considerations for timed activities, and effective gradebook use. The workshop concludes by exploring how student feedback can inform ongoing course revision and how the BMCC Course Design Rubric supports a sustainable model of continuous course improvement.

Session #6 of a 6-part series: BMCC’s Course Design Workshop Series supports faculty in the design, review, and continuous improvement of their courses across all modalities (in‑person, hybrid, or online). The series introduces the BMCC Course Rubric—a locally adapted framework based on the SUNY Online Course Quality Review Rubric (OSCQR)—as a shared resource to guide quality, accessibility, and usability in course design. Each session features a guided “think‑aloud” review of a faculty partner’s Brightspace course site, offering authentic, real‑time examples that promote reflective practice and actionable feedback.

Designed as a collaborative experience, the series is open to faculty across ranks, disciplines, and teaching modalities who are interested in refreshing or enhancing the online components of their courses. Faculty are welcome to attend individual sessions or the entire series; those who participate in all six sessions will receive a certificate of completion.
