She has dedicated her time to speak to you guys. It is extremely important that you attend this workshop, as Networking is a way for you to gain new information. Beth is an expert in the field, so it is also important you come up with questions you might have for her before hand.

WORKSHOP: GET-UPP Premedical Program Bootcamp

ASAP will be hosting a bootcamp which is designed to support students with their application to the GET-UPP Pre-med Program at the University of Columbia. Once again, our guest speakers are Jessica Rosenthal, and Yan Wang. They will be walking you through the application, how to properly structure you essays, how and who to ask for recommendation letters and many more. Fortunately, we have two students who are currently in the program. They will be sharing their experiences, and would also shed more light to the programs insight for you.

WORKSHOP: How to Write a Personal Statement

In this workshop we will review personal statements of college students who have won health related scholarships and/or gained entry into premedical programs at 4-year colleges, and discuss what makes a strong personal statement. Our guest speakers are Jessica Rosenthal and Yan Wang who are currently working as tutors and Academic Success and Scholarship workshop facilitators for ASAP. They have dedicated their time to host this workshop for you as writing a strong personal statement is an important key to a successful entry to medical school.

WORKSHOP: How to Find a Faculty Mentor and Engage in Research at BMCC

We will host a discussion on how to find a faculty mentor and engage in research while at BMCC. Our discussion leaders are Shepherd Coron and Gearoff Cruz Rodriguez, two students who are engaged in advanced research at BMCC. Shepherd Coron works in the Biotech lab with Dr. Priano, a biology professor at BMCC, researching how bacteria reacts with certain herbal medicines. Also, Gearoff Cruz Rodriguez works as a biomedical intern with Dr. Jose Romero, a microbiology professor at BMCC. They are working on finding Anti-HPV and Anti-HSV activity in rectal samples from men.

MCAT Jeopardy

MCAT Jeopardy

The main purpose of this activity is to help students get familiar with each other, and build the mindset of teamwork. This activity would be focusing on (physics, chemistry, biology, math, and some MCAT questions). We will be pairing students in groups, and prizes will be given out to the team(s) with the highest score. Come prepared, and bring your pen, paper and calculator along.
