    1. Hello Caridad!

I really relate to the “huge family” haha! I have 6 siblings, my mother has 4, and my grandmother has 11 !! It is very inspiring that you decided to come back to finish your schooling, all while being a mother. Hope you have an amazing semester:)

  3. Hello everyone,
My name is Donje, and I’m currently a psychology major at BMCC. I’ve been working as a behavioral tech for children with special needs for the past 7 years, which has been both challenging and rewarding. I initially enrolled at BMCC with the goal of becoming an emergency medical technician, but when things didn’t quite work out in that area, I decided to continue pursuing something I already had some experience and knowledge in psychology.

I’m really interested in studying at BMCC because it’s a great starting point for me to learn more about the psychological field and how it connects with working with children, especially in educational settings. After I complete my studies here, my goal is to become a school counselor, specifically working with high school students. I feel passionate about helping kids navigate their challenges and providing the support they need to succeed.

Outside of school and work, I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring different ways to relax and unwind. I’m excited to be here and look forward to learning more from everyone in the class.

    1. Hello Donje, I agree with you, how is that excited to work with children, I feel like we can learn from them a lot of things, and every single time they teach us to find out new method to deal with them and teach them, I hope you to achieve your goal!

    2. Greetings Donje,
I appreciate your post and think it is such a generous and heartfelt contribution to our youth. I am majoring in human services and seeking to expand my education to pursue behavioral psychology. My goal is to become a family counselor for children placed in foster care. I aim to create harmonious and healthy family connections so that children can grow up in families that are not perfect but loving, living, and thriving in a healthy environment. It is nice to know how to unwind and provide nurturing for yourself as well. Thank you for sharing, and looking forward to learning and growing in this class.

    3. Hey Donje,
      Great introduction!
I’m glad you decided to pursue the major that you felt was right for you. I think being a counselor sounds great. I love children ! I currently work helping children myself by providing childcare services. We’re lucky to have people like you who want to make a difference. Good luck on your journey.

    1. Greetings Samid,

Thank you for sharing your attributes and ambitions. Would you believe I registered in two different Political 100 classes before I reached this class? I was in the wrong group, but during that short time, I met wonderful people who supported me, and I was able to support them in return. Your story reminds me of how much you want to contribute to making the planet healthier, and the love you have for supporting your family is truly heartfelt.

I grew up in the Lower East Side and now live in Brooklyn with my partner. We live with two cats named Friday and Mary, and a sweet little Yorkie Terrier named Shushi. I want to hopefully go into Social Work after my I complete my 2 years at BMCC. I had many social workers as a kid and will always remember them and how much they helped me, and my dream is to one day be that for other young people in the world. Excited to continue my education and to be with learning with you all:)

  9. Greetings everyone,
My name is Michelle, but I prefer to be called Miche’. I am a student at BMCC, majoring in Human Studies. I am passionate about understanding others and supporting them in what makes their lives fulfilling, so I see myself as a resource. I am particularly excited about working with families who are looking to establish healthy relationships, whether as married or cohabiting couples. My goal is to help them create a harmonious connection for themselves and their children. I am looking forward to diving into the learning of government history; it should be most revealing. Happy learning everyone!!!

    1. Hi Michelle,
I think its lovely that you have a passion for understanding others as do I.
I enjoy learning about personal growth especially within my personal relationships. Maintaining a healthy relationship has been something I have learned to establish with my partner, family and friendships. It has helped me become a better man. I can appreciate what you are willing to do for others in your career and wish you success!

  10. Good evening, my name is Tyrek Johnson, I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. I lived majority of my life in Flatbush, Brooklyn specifically so if you’re familiar with the area you’ll know how Caribbean influenced it is and both of my parents are from Panama. I’m a freshman at BMCC majoring in Psychology. After I graduate from BMCC with my associate degree, I plan on pursuing a bachelor’s degree in psychology at one of the best CUNY’s. I’m into music, sports, holistic health, psychology, and astrology. I like to go deep into astrology, I know people assume it to be about the popular sun sign and horoscopes, but it goes way deeper. You have different planets, star signs and houses that influence and make up your birth chart. You can get a better understanding of yourself on a spiritual level the deeper you go. There’s a lot of psychology that goes into astrology as well.
