I believe what she was saying is so true and important for individuals to understand.  Every individual should try and be in a healthy relationship. it is necessary and well significant that you both partners make it work by working together as a team, you have my back and I have yours. Both need to care about one another problems and happiness, Their problem is your problem their happiness is yours as well. Numerous relationships out there have filled because when there’s a problem people tend to run away from it by breaking up instead of finding a solution to fix it. It takes a while for a person’s heart to heal from their past relationship and you guys breaking up is damaging both of you guy’s hearts. love is not just a feeling it’s commitment, and above all sacrifice.

I watched the film called “Out in the Night” which reflects the story of four young Black lesbians who experience sexual harassment on the street which happened in West Greenwich Village, Manhattan. When they act in self-defense, they are wrongfully blamed, detained, and imprisoned. The man that sexually threatened the women with brutality didn’t get accused while the four women were viewed as gang-related violence. The police haven’t keep in mind that these women were threatened with sexual violence, to only be arrested for defending themselves from a hate crime that was captured on video surveillance cameras in which their rights were disrupted like it was never there.

Crenshaw’s talks about how women’s violation is something the society is not aware of or doesn’t care about. And her words connects to the story above how women are facing unfairness when it comes to gender which is a huge problem.

Why are Black women near such a high risk of dying from pregnancy?

 My name is Hamidou Soumailou and my nationality is African American. I am currently a student at Borough Of Manhattan Community College and this is my second year. Migrating to the United States I have viewed how people like me, in other words, people of color were treated in the past, and up till today that abuse of power still exists. I am connected to my people of color and it doesn’t matter if you’re male or female we are all one, your problem is my problem as well. {see note 1 in Comment below}

Before I dig into my topic I want to talk a little about what’s the aim of news in our daily lives. The News is that part of the delivery that keeps us knowledgeable of the changing events, problems, and characters in the world outside. Although it may be interesting or even entertaining, the foremost value of news is as a benefit to empower the informed which is us the individuals. An issue I believe that will become a major topic worldwide which many people are not aware of is why are black women at such a high risk of dying from pregnancy? And why is that, numerous individuals think it’s an issue of poverty, lack of fetal care or not having access to the best hospitals which is sometimes the case. But we should all keep in mind that Racism also plays an important role. Childbirth is far more uncertain for Black women than white women. In New York state, the Department of Health affirmed that three times more Black women died from pregnancy-related complications than white women. More than 60% of these deaths can be preventable if appropriate caution is given fairly. It doesn’t matter if your rich or poor almost every black woman has faced discrimination within childbirth care. {see note 2 in the comment below}

For the reason that I believe black women near such a high risk of dying from pregnancy is according to the American Heart Association, it’s a nonprofit organization in the United States which aims to reduce death caused by heart disease and stroke. On February 20, 2019, they published an article called, “Why are black women at such high risk of dying from pregnancy complications?” which talks about two known individuals called Serena Williams and Beyoncé. Serena Williams is one of the best tennis players, and Beyonce is a top rank singer. Although these two individuals have different values they both are black women, millionaires, and still experienced life-threatening difficulties in their pregnancies. As the article mentions, “Basically, black women are undervalued. They are not monitored as carefully as white women are. When they do present with symptoms, they are often dismissed. That’s what happened to Williams when she experienced a pulmonary embolism a day after giving birth to her daughter via cesarean section. Williams was gasping for breath and recognized that blood clots were blocking one or more of the arteries in her lungs.” Williams’ story illustrates the biggest obstacle black women face even when they are successful and wealthy. Racism affects so many things before a patient even gets to the clinical encounter. They are already classified once they step foot in the hospital. Just how we say money doesn’t buy you everything.

In addition to why I believe black women near such a high risk of dying from pregnancy is agreeing to a news company called NPR news which issues an article called, “Black Mother Keep Dying After Giving Birth.” DR Michael Lu is an Orthopedic Surgery Specialist, and the article states, “Dr. Michael Lu spent years as head of the Maternal and Child Health Bureau. That’s the main federal funding of programs for mothers and infants. He and others have done studies showing that an important cause of poor outcomes in childbirth for all black women is prolonged exposure to the indignities and dangers of discrimination.” Pregnancy causes stress to the body, And not having proper health care can put the woman at greater risk.

To sum up, everything that has been stated so far black motherhood has been facing discrimination throughout their lives and it’s a major conflict in the society which individuals need to be aware of and take action on. Keep in mind that the Constitution was created so each one of us have the same right, equality, and privileges. But that’s not the case here, whites tend to dominate people of color and that’s something we individuals will never sit watch happen. I believe the way we can prevent discrimination in health departments is by involving the government because they operate it. They should develop a written policy that defines rules and procedures. Constructing a written policy is the first step approaching restricting discrimination at work environments. {see note 3 below}

INCITE/Critical which stated that arresting individual for gender violation has also brought many women into a struggle with the law, especially different individuals who identified as women of color, poor women, lesbians, sex workers, immigrant women, women with disabilities, and other marginalized women. For example, following the mandatory detention laws, there have been numerous events where police officers were called to domestic situations and have arrested the woman who is being battered. Notwithstanding an exponential rise in the number of men in jails, women are not any safer, and the rates of sexual crime and domestic violence have not decreased in the community.

While watching Crenshaw’s she talks about how women’s violation is something the society is not aware of or doesn’t care about. She presented a game where the audiences should stand up and listen to names they recognize. If Crenshaw’s say a name they not familiar with they can be seated. The first few names she said were male individuals who were killed by cops brutality and not a single person seated. But once she started naming females who were killed by cops brutality, almost the whole audience is sitting down.

Based on the film(s) you watched, what do the victim-survivors say about their experience and how are their stories received– by their family/friends/colleagues, the legal system, the media?

The story was about an African American name Emma who was discriminated at an environment she wanted to work in and felt as if she should take action by bringing a complaint to the court. During her case, she stated to the judge that her conflict in that particular environment, and what the judge did next was mind-blowing. He dismissed her stating that the workplace does not discriminate against individuals base on their skin color. I truly understand where Emma is coming from, the judge having kept in mind that Gender also plays an important role in her case which makes his not being understandable.

While reading the passage called “Beyond same-sex, marriage: A new strategic vision for all our families band relationships” I uncovered a few interests. First, the description of a “nuclear family” is a family group that consists of a male, female, and their children. This is another style of label and social exception that is placed upon individuals. Feminist and queer interventions claim the ideas of a “nuclear family” by bringing knowledge to this situation and wanting to fight for the titles people should legally possess.

The “nuclear family” limits other features to be recognized as authorized families. The government sees same-sex households to be nontraditional, meaning that they don’t follow the standards of society.

The other vision we see for how family can be formed is that Families can be included of just females parents or male parents, single moms, single dads it doesn’t matter. As long as you are caring for your children that’s all that counts. The visions that exist for the ways that families can be formed without restriction will encourage the LGBDQ community in our society.

In my opinion it doesn’t matter which sex is rising their child, as long as their being their for the children that’s call upright parenting.

We all know how the Coronavirus pandemics have affected individual’s lives it did matter, man or women. But while reading a passage that can from The Simple True talks about who were mostly affected by the coronavirus pandemic. It states that more women were affected than men, to be more specific women of color. Considering the start of the pandemic, a large number of women than
men have lost jobs because so many works in industries that have shrunk in 2020, such as the restaurant, retail, hotel, and travel sectors, etc… I am not okay seeing this because it will make women feel like their no need for them in the outside world instead of just staying home as a domestic.

According to AAPI Women’s economic security that talks about wage gaps in women’s economy. Women in the U.S. who work full-time, year-round
are typically given only 82 cents for every dollar adjusted to their male equivalents. And when it comes to race it’s even worst, your race indicates the amount of money you can receive. We don’t choose our races you get what God gives you, but that shouldn’t determine your worth because at the end of the day we are all humans.

A passage that had me thinking came from Bitch Media which stated, “That email came from Cathy Brennan, an attorney, radical feminist, and lesbian activist who is well known for her beliefs that transgender women should be considered men.” Because of the use of the word men, that got me questioning what exactly they mean by that.

I enjoin reading “Transgender people And Bathroom Access” because there’s a absurd debate about it. They believe that transgender’s meant not feel comfortable or safe using public restroom. Since in this world individuals do get bully one way or the other. So they decided to create rights for transgender individuals. The con side about having transgender using a private restroom is the message non-transgender people will receive, some how you telling them that transgender individual are evil and they should be kept separate from others.

An additional conflict I want to add is the view of social. In today’s world women ae suppose to look a certain and men are suppose to look a certain way. If somehow you are enable to do that many individual will judge you and that’s just facts. Well according to “Toilet Training” an individual name Dan share her story on how she got arrested for using the bathroom. Dean identifies as a trans individual, but because she used the man restroom he got arrested.

As I was reading the paragraph from Combahee River Collectives called “Black Feministic Statement” She talks about her statement and how women are classified in society. It states, “The most general statement of our politics at the present time would be that we are actively committed to struggling against racial, sexual, heterosexual, and class oppression.” Well for me this states that certain individuals were just born to face conflict in relation to racial, sexual,
heterosexual, and class oppression in their lives which they never sign up for. Combahee River claims that black women’s position in society is the ones who encounter more discrimination. The role of socialism in their statement was that every individual sex determines the amount of power they will receive. The reason for that is men the myth they follow, men are superiors and women. And they’re also the head of the house, the one who makes the rules.

While reading the poetry from Carrillo the author who named the piece, “And when I Leave You” she describes her experience as being a slave. Racism operates in the women’s movement was a huge conflict which, cause disagreement amongst factions of white and Black women management. I believe that it is well written how the author expresses their feeling throughout the poetry which makes the reading picture in their mind what the writer has been through in their life as a slave.

In Anzaldúa paragraph she describes the border as being like a wall that separates individuals. And they will always be a conflict if that wall is still present. The only way to get rude of the problems is by breaking down the wall and let everyone unite as one community. She uses the concept of mestiza to characterize the privileged that different individuals receive. For Anzaldúa this means your privilege is decided the moment you were born.
