Sex in this modern-day and age is a very talked-about and common subject amongst anyone and everyone; an unfiltered, no restriction topic, that in this article conveys how to speak what is the language of sex, and how vital it is in communication. At a young age, we are taught to not engage in sex as well as, refuse it until marriage (sometimes) or until we find the right person. When the topic of sex comes up, what is mainly talked about is consent but not the inviting of sex, men and women have both done things that have shown their sexual desire for example; nudes and comments explaining what either on of them would do to each other sexually. I wouldn’t consider these comments inviting in a sense and “Sex Talk” describes the importance of an invitation and being invited when it comes to sex. When you get acquainted with someone, for example, a fling to a serious relationship, solicitation is a rather more common, ordinary, and definitely, more satisfactory means of initiating sex; Rebecca Kukla basically stated in the article that it isn’t a bad thing to demand sex from your partner and instead is an act of good faith. Adequate sex instead of solicitation can be helpful and is good when you greet the person you are acquainted with and is a key to healthy sex. Again though generally, open convos associated are restricted to a correlation that is: the request for sex that can be followed by the acceptance or denial. To engage in sexual activity in a safe manner making sure that there is consent, clear communication about what roles each of you has, your expectations from the act, and the willingness to take part in moral sexual acts that both people can be satisfied to a certain extent. Not to mention, the creation of safewords which allows anyone to participate or engage in various activities, with active rules that can help each person to cease the activities at any time without hurting themselves or one another.

Watching the film “Free CeCe!”, opened my eyes even more to just how bad the criminal justice system is and how someone sentence can be determined through their gender, race, and sexuality. It is disappointing that even though she was just defending herself and you could clearly see she was, they still charged her harshly; with second-degree intentional murder. This is the world we live in, a world where we can’t even feel safe in our own homes, where we don’t even feel comfortable walking outside, and feeling like you are putting yourself at risk. Discrimination because of the presence of skin color, sexuality and gender have always been present in society throughout the years and is only getting worse from what I have voluntarily seen (I don’t like to watch the news or see the cruel realities of this society) but there is no way to get away from it. Being a trans of color, in my opinion, is seen as a criminal offense and should be punished; do I agree of course not if someone doesn’t feel right/comfortables who they are and they take that big step in changing, then DO IT! No one should be judged because of that it isn’t right, that is not how society should act or view a person just because of their sexuality, race or gender; at the end of the day that is their choice and their choice alone and doesn’t affect the outsider and their personal life. NO ONE should have to go through or even experienced in the tiniest fraction of what CeCe went through, the underprivileged shouldn’t be treated with inequality and deserve to be treated as humans and be given their rights as such. They deserve to live life without fear, shame, disrespect because they are still human, and bleed the same blood as everyone else.

Various factors have created a quota of fixed judgments on the behavior of each sex, for instance, ménage, media, and religious organizations. The rules that are taught in the factors above are supported by each other; principles taught by the family can get the equivalent support from the other factors especially school and the media. This, in turn, normalizes what is being disciplined. The trepidation that we would feel as a result of repudiation from the public and can weaken those who are indecisive about things in their everyday life. Society’s sway has ultimately molded some to have a one-track mind which makes a full rotation to what was stated previously about our fixed quota of judgments on the behavior of each sex/gender/sexuality. Gender is constructed from families to the economy, state, and again mold/shape us all.
Micropolitics, macropolitics, and mesopolitics of civilization and of course their all-around impact make it unyielding, to fracture the bias hold and methodical imbalance involving gender. Becoming Alice and diving into the rabbit hole that is our social institution, will aid in the deletion of the ideas of gender and sex, a perfect idea example would be the dominance of one sex atop the other; ascendency. The manifestation of racial, gender and sexual-orientation micro-aggressions was definitely an interesting chapter to me, there were times that I felt and was discriminated against mainly because I am an ebony woman in America even though I was born here; skin color of course and hair (rocking out with my afro out) is a popular factor of judgment. Regardless of that, I ignore the looks and comments because at the end of the day those are strangers and I do not benefit from them. Micro-aggression has separate forms from, race to religion; there is a lot of micro-aggression in our society presently both intentionally and unintentionally. Secondly, we have gender micro-aggression and micro-aggression towards other social groups i.e. LGBTQ+ and others because they represent a compact segment of the inhabitants. If we can treat others, with the principles that the constitution is supposedly built on then attaining a peaceful and corresponding society won’t be unachievable.

While reading the “Stanford Encyclopedia of philosophy and the Identity Terms”, it revealed that tongue can either present to assist or attenuate cultural prejudice; we also got to learn about how gender impartiality and the feminist movement has created conversations between many others about the fact that women are not being recognized in this process. Feminism is the liberation of women and could also be described as the design of prerogative for women in a political, economic, and social standing that is equal to that of men; ideas of feminism goes through various alters and developments. Feminist researchers have expressed the way in which language has intentionally and unintentionally generated a rift involving the understanding of gender objectivity and has inevitably made women invisible in the process.
In the reading, the topic of false gender neutrality which is a concept I can agree with tried making the pronouns “he”/ “man” neutral when in fact it is not. Gender-neutral terms would be them, they, people, etc; these are more appropriate and fall into the category of gender-neutral. The reference of a man being used to describe humans has ultimately made women invisible and underlined labor that women do. Civilization is determined and marked by language based on males, it is immensely obvious to see that language is presides more in the male spectrum and it doesn’t matter what language you speak in the long run.

Following the reading “Identity Terms” the term that most people would use to describe me is “A Person of Color”. People don’t look at me and say that she is a young black woman or even black woman but, refer me to as one in a group of “colored people” and not as my own person. Just because I am 100% a woman of color does not mean that I would like to be referred to as a black woman or a young black woman. Some think this doesn’t make a difference and that they are ultimately the same but, that isn’t the case “people of color” and “colored people”, naturally was used and created some years ago referring to a group of black people during slavery and in racisms prime. This term was used at that time to degrade and reprimand us.
A theory that stood out in the “Feminist Philosophy of Language” was “Malesness as Norm”. We can all see that there are a number of jobs that are gender-specific. In society, there is an increase of hostility when it comes to women being able and very capable of doing what men can do. For example, it stated “Moreover they call attention to women’s presence in positions of authority-doctor and manager. Nonetheless, most feminists who think about language find these terms objectionable”, innumerable amounts of people think that big positions that one holds in a job are held by the male species, like for instance the position of being a manager in a hospital or a CEO of a company; these roles are usually pictured as a males job/role to play. Society has created the expectation that women and men are classified to do specific jobs because of their tasks. Society will always keep on reminding women of their sex and the cautions that come with it and will be kept in a considerable amount of incomprehension than men.

While reading the article, we learned about the ideas of gender and sex. Researchers use the theories to refine where the different perspectives on sexual orientation derive from. The three theories are biological, psychological, and critical/cultural; the first theory being biological involves the distinction between both men and women are direct inherent and hormonal differences. The society we reside in has specific expectations that are put in place when regarding how genders should act or ultimately behave, who decided what expectations that were put in place should be considered the “standard” of our society and be deemed normal. Everyone should be allowed to freely express themselves and explore their own identity, at the end of the day it is their own self that they are getting to know in life and that should not be anyone else’s concern but that person.
I found myself questioning a number of things and mainly why we focus so much of our attention on other opinions regarding gender and who we want to be; as well as the psychological perspective of how gender is viewed. The psychological perspective which is a crucial point is that gender identity is not actually set at birth and is developed through youth. Gender will always be under pressure due to the constant expectations that society has on them and of course, the expectations that society wants us to meet can not always happen because you don’t choose gender but are who the person is and wants to be and what they truly feel like.
As anthropoids, we need to become more aware of how our own arbitration, impacts other identities. Outer influences of a bystander should not define the person(s) persona but, from within that person.

Throughout my years of living, I thought that gender and sex were synonyms. I realize now through our first chapter “Gender Stories” that sex and gender differentiate; we determine whether someone in our society is male or female via sex but, as we cultivate, adapt to our environment, changes that involve behavior, and the change in our needs, etc. this is what shapes our gender.
We ultimately perceive gender as a man or woman; while reading I see that gender is a rabbit hole that never ends because of everyone else’s opinions and point of view. As society focuses more on gender and sex, we understand well that identifying as a woman or a man is all right, determined by how you view yourself. Self-identity, is an important aspect of our lives, rather than worrying about how other people and society view you. Additionally, in various cultures, the way kids dress relates to their gender. For example, boys should dress like men and wear hats or colors that you would stereotype with like dark neutral colors or famously blue, etc. Girls of course associate with pink however, these are standards of deemed right by society, and that in turn delivers how we communicate.
In actuality though, this does not determine or define who you are as a person and how you view yourself whether it involves your gender or not. As we continue to learn and understand gender and communication, we can better progress on the topic of human sexuality.

Comprehension of gender binary is a principle, when discussing gender binary it refers to the grouping of gender in two different, converse forms of masculine and feminine. When we are born we either classified as female or male and instantly there are “ideas” and “norms” that each gender should behave or carry out. Even though, society has definitely played a substantial role in how women and men should behave or carry out there are other factors that played substantial roles too, like religion and family that contributed to the process of these “norms”.
In our society, men were supposed to have and be in control, while women were supposed to take care and look up to them. This is a sizeable issue that has been taught since early childhood, these roles are then passed along through maturity, and both genders as stated previously have specific jobs. Explaining it more thoroughly, women are required to drop everything they want to do for their families; their own careers being one of them. Each and every one of these things unfavorably affected both genders, guiding problems of what’s called toxic masculinity and others.
Identity should not be influenced by outer forces but from its own individual. There are a lot of stereotypes due to society but, no one should have to grow up thinking that one (women/girls) should be or is always inferior and the other (men/boys) always superior.

Evening everyone, my name is Zakiyah and I major in Liberal Arts. I hope to graduate by the end of next year, and will then try and transfer to a 4 year or an HBCU to pursue my bachelor’s in Biology. The goal is to ultimately pursue a career in the animal field whether its rescuing animals, being a vet, or zoology. I believe this class can develop me as a person and guide me as a person and who I am personally and probably help others on their own odyssey. I love animals, reading, video games, traveling, food, and being around people with good vibes. Being able to understand different congruences aids in trying to relate with others as well as effective communication between others too; I trust that this class demonstrates that aspect.
I enjoyed the videos and how divergent they were from each other. As previously stated in the reading, each one of us identifies ourselves differently. Even though this is an obvious statement it is refreshing to witness it first hand.
I was born in New York, but my family is mainly from the Caribbean (I also don’t consider myself American). Most of my family is from Grenada which is above Venezuela, gender roles consist of women cooking and cleaning while the men work and come home. In our schools, we don’t really learn about gender roles and gender equality; our school system is advanced so we learn about our basic 4 important common core subjects, with little extra subjects such as script and agriculture as well as our history and we have an assembly every morning before school starts where we sing gospel and recite the Lord’s prayer.
I didn’t live in Grenada for a long time (only a year) but from what I’ve been told depending on who your parents are being homosexual can either be a problem and have repercussions or be completely fine. In my opinion, it shouldn’t matter whether your child is homosexual or not and roles shouldn’t be classified by gender.
