Designing Curriculum Units

Last week we reviewed child development through the domains and began to unpack the role of creative experiences in supporting growth and learning.

This week you will begin the work of designing thematic curriculum units for Pre-K (3-5).

By the end of this learning module, you will be able to:

  • Describe the key elements of curriculum.
  • Recognize what a thematic Pre-K curriculum unit looks like and explain how to design learning activities to implement curriculum.
  • Explain how teachers scaffold children’s learning.
  • Analyze how teachers adapt core curriculum standards to meet the specific needs of their class.
