Observing and documenting children’s learning and growth is the primary way that teachers evaluate their students’ understanding. Through these ongoing assessments teachers learn how to plan lessons to meet students’ needs and support their growth.
This week, you will continue working on your Activity Plan, revising and refining your essential questions, objectives, learning goals and standards, and assessment strategies.
Use the New York State Prekindergarten Learning Standards to select benchmarks (standards that can be measured) for the Standards/Goals section of your Activity Plan. You need to plan learning activities that will guide students to achieve the standards. Remember, all children learn and grow at their own pace, so the learning activities should include differentiated strategies to scaffold children at different stages of development.
