Not a Box!

This is not just a box, this is my dream desk as a kid. I had something very similar but now as my real desk is all cluttered with work throughout the semesters, I imagine a nice clean desk that brings me peace as I look at it. I used to have this desk outside in my living room but now I have one in my room that I barely have space to use. The plants and the organization are something I wish to have one day!

ITS NOT A BOX!

It’s my ideal getaway spot. I love nature. Of all things nature, I love the beach woods and everything green. I have a tent, which I made out of bobby pins, a t.v because I can’t live without Netflix and a bed with ice cream on the side.I also have a campfire, I made the logs out of cardboard and painted them. To the left of me is the beach, with a tropical tree.

It’s not a Box! It’s a cornfield! A place of relaxation, beauty, and peace. A place where the air runs through your hair and you smell moist dirt. I created my box using construction paper only. I cut out paper flowers and grass. I used a sky blue background making all cutouts pop with color. I created a hill using a shade of brown and green stripes representing grass. Clouds are different shades of blues and the sun is oversized bright yellow.

Not a Box

I chose the beach theme for my project “Not a Box”. For the ground, to make the sand, I put dry fried edamame and navy beans. Underneath the beans is a blue heavyweight construction paper for ocean appearance and seashells that I have to put some life in the water. I made an umbrella out of a napkin to which I attached a stick. I made a beach chair out of colored paper and used the dolls I found in my souvenirs. Literally, it required me just to cut and glue shapes out the paper to complete this project. And it took me 20 minutes in total to create this scenery.

Is Not A Box… Is My Camera

My not a box is a camera. I get a little box, I went to the box with my sister’s materials and find a lot of things but i just get some markers, construction paper and some tape. i chose construction paper blue because that is my favorite color, i cut it with a edge scissors and stick them to the box. After that i take a black marker and I draw some circles of differents sizes in the box in the end i mark the shores of the construction paper. something i like to do is taking pictures of landscapes.

Its Not a Box, Its the Beach

My not a box is the view of the beach with a clear blue sky, clear blue water where you can see the fishes, seaweed and crabs. Right under is the warm sand your feet feel when you stand on it under the bright yellow sun. I used white paper & folded it into a box & then used crayons to draw and color the details onto it. This summer I have been dying to go to the beach and just sit by the water or have my feet soak into the sand while admiring the view, this is my ideal view I imagine.

It’s Not a Box, It’s my house!

I Have read this book many time to my students. When I think about a box, I think about a container. Our lives are maintained in containers. We travel in a container to work (the train), we live a container, we store our supplies in a container. Living in NYC, I have found it difficult to find a home. This city is a place of constant movement and I find myself looking for peace and tranquillity. This project reinforced my need to move out of the city and find my forever home. A place where I can expand in way that feels comfortable to me and at my pace, not

the pace around me. It’s not a box, it’s my dream home!

This is my “Not a box” project. I went around my home to find any loose materials. I always had the initial idea of making a shute of sorts, but with the other material I had, the visual of an oceanic diorama started to form. A plastic piece oddly shaped with tissue paper became an oyster, with an old ornament as its pearl. Cotton rounds became clouds, and the waves of construction paper made it all come together. I still have the shute, as I thought it was a fun decorative element (with tissue paper and painted dots) that you can pass multicolored cotton balls through!
