Child Development and Creativity

Welcome!

This week we will introduce two key learning goals of this course, which are essential to planning curriculum for young children: child development and creativity.  Throughout the semester, we will explore how creativity supports young children’s growth, learning and development in all domains. We will put these ideas into practice by creating curriculum and learning activities.

After completing the readings, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate understanding of developmental domains and the significance of teaching to the whole child.
  • Analyze teaching practice through a developmental lens.
  • Explain the connection between creativity and the arts and child development.
  • Create an example of an early childhood art activity, inspired by children’s literature.
