I am from the county of kings, home of the Notorious B.I.G
Spread love its the Brooklyn way, in the winter long nights
In the summer, long days
Skating rink, Coney Island, Prospect Park
Hiding seek, steal the bacon or manhunt at dark.
Where I’m from is the greatest, its made me who I am
The city is filled with people, from all walks of life
But where I’m from, you gotta be careful and always walk with a knife.
If you’re not from here, it may take some getting used to
Mean muggin, loud noise and street fights
I’ll introduce you
Brooklyn.
I used paint to make my self portrait, I chose the paint because love how portraits look when there painted, I’m not sure why. I chose grey hair because I love grey hair. I am almost always wearing a flower in my hair and the sunflowers is my favorite flower. I have on my favorite kind of earrings, which are hoops and an olive green top. I think olive green compliments my skin tone. I didnt draw any facial features because I felt like it would have messed up this great painting, as I am horrible with drawing faces.
When designing a curriculum, educators need to consider how effective it will be for children. They need to consider if it will help the children in any or all of the four domains. Educators must also think about their students, and their skills. Observing is essential to the childhood educator, because when designing a curriculum, the educator must know if the child is behind or progressing. The educator must design their curriculum to be developmentally appropriate for the child.
There are multiple key elements the early childhood teacher might implement into their curriculum. An important key is understanding the child and their needs. This can help educators design an effective curriculum by planning based on where the child is developmentally. Another key element is having knowledge of the child’s culture and/or traditions. Children are interested and the outcome are more positive when they can relate to the curriculum. Asking open ended questions is another key element in an early childhood’s curriculum. When teachers ask open ended questions, they are getting the child to think and have reason. The child is also using their cognitive thinking. This also helps the educator understand how children may think.
An effective curriculum supports all domains of learning and development. Educators should have centers in the classroom, that supports children across the four domains. Children are all different, and they learn differently. Some children are hands on, while others learn by seeing or verbally. It is important that educators know their children, and help set them up for success.
Physical domain refers to the physical development of the child. Activities that causes children to use their fine and gross motor skills would be physical development. When children brain grows, they have the ability to develop new physical skills. Activities like running, jumping, skipping etc, helps to stimulate brain growth in children.
Social-Emotional refers to the development of emotions and response of the child. When children take risks and fail, it helps to build their confidence and independence. Cooperative play, helps children build relationships. Games that children have to share, or team up with other children, is important for social-emotional development. Teaching children to say please and thank you, stop and no, is also an important part of this development.
The cognitive domain, refers to the intellectual development of the child. Children develop their cognitive skills by thinking. Using the information they already know, with new information, they try to make sense of their world.
Language/literacy refers to the etc, helps children develop language and communication skills. Activities like reading, singing, using big vocabulary supports this development.
I noticed in Ms. Yvonne’s classroom, there were multiple centers and activities that support children across all or the four domains. At the table for painting, children can develop their fine motor skills. Using different sizes of the painting brushes, children are learning to grasp, strengthen and coordinate their hand.
The library is needed for the development of the child’s language and literacy skills.
In the artice “The Art of Being Present”, Greene states that it is the educators duty to observe what needs to be observed but teachers should not force their interpretations on children. In Ms.Yvonne’s video, the children used their cognitive thinking skills to make observations about a pumpkin. When the children would ask questions about the pumpkin, Ms. Yvonne wouldn’t answer the questions for the children, but allowed them to answer their own questions, through observation.
It’s my ideal getaway spot. I love nature. Of all things nature, I love the beach woods and everything green. I have a tent, which I made out of bobby pins, a t.v because I can’t live without Netflix and a bed with ice cream on the side.I also have a campfire, I made the logs out of cardboard and painted them. To the left of me is the beach, with a tropical tree.
