For your seminar project this week, you are going to take a virtual trip to the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Begin with the online exhibit: Art in Place: Social Distancing in the Studio
Take some time to really explore and appreciate the work of these amazing artists, whose work has enchanted children for decades.
Now you are going to create your own socially-distanced art using materials you have in your home:
- Choose one of the artists from the virtual exhibit whose work speaks to you.
- Using drawing materials, painting materials, sculpting materials, or collage materials, create your own artwork in the style of this artist.
- Your art can represent any topic you choose. It can be realistic or abstract.
- After you create your art, take a photograph and post the photograph and a short description of your art. In your description include:
- The artist from the exhibit whose work inspired you and why.
- The medium you chose to use (i.e., drawing, painting, sculpting, collage).
- What your art represents and why it is important to you.
