Seminar Project: Self-Portrait

Every lesson starts with a “spark” that introduces the content and captures the children’s interest. Very often, that is an exciting and well-written children’s book.

Watch this video of kindergarten children creating self-portraits.

For this seminar project, you are going to create your own self-portrait. Your self portrait can be a “head shot” or full body. For your self portrait you may use any materials you like (watercolors, pastels, markers, collage materials). Your assignment has two parts:

(1) When you complete your self portrait, take a photo and post it here with a brief description of how your created it (i.e., materials you used and why).

(2) Then, go to Flipgrid and upload a short video with you and your self-portrait. In the video, share a story about yourself.
