Seminar Project: Not A Box…

Creativity is using our imagination to make, transform, create. It means transcending traditional thinking to bring new ideas into reality. Without creativity, humans would never have developed scientific inventions such as electricity, would never have discovered new galaxies or sent people into space, would never have created computers or developed the internet that allows us to travel to remote places without leaving our homes.

Creativity means thinking outside the box

Watch this video read-aloud of Antoinette Portis’s children’s book Not A Box.

Now, you are going to think outside the box and create something new and different from a simple shape. To do this, you need a box–any kind, any size, any shape.  If you can’t find a box, you can make one using construction paper, newspaper, or any other materials.

You may use crayons, markers, paints, oil pastels, construction paper, and any “found materials” (e.g., buttons, pieces of fabric, ribbon, newspaper, metal, stones, shells, feathers, etc.) you have around the house.

Use your imagination… Take a journey… Create…

When you complete your “Not A Box” take a photograph of it and upload it here by creating your own post (not a reply). Describe your “Not A Box” and how you created it. We will share your “Not A Box” on Sunday, August 29 during our class meeting (Zoom).
