Reflect on the questions
- How do infants learn?
- What do infants learn?
- How do relationships support infant learning & development?
- Based on your responses to questions #1, 2, and 3, what should curriculum in infant classrooms be based on?
- What should an infant teacher do to plan curriculum for babies?
1). How do infants learn?
Infants learn through their senses such as eyes, ears, hands, nose, and their mouth. Infants learn and gain skills holistically which is why it is very important to include activities and comprehensive learning in a classroom.
2). What do infants learn?
In a curriculum classroom infants learn to build relationships and trust in order to get their needs met.
3). How do relationships support infant learning & development?
Relationships are very important in a curriculum because infants learn to build trust and establish caring relationships between caregivers and young children grow and develop and help caregivers better understand and respond to children’s individual needs.
4).Based on your responses to questions #1, 2, and 3, what should curriculum in infant classrooms be based on?
A curriculum should be based on helping caregivers and educators develop environments and routines that help children learn and grow. Also a curriculum should be inclusive of all children and allow for the children to be themselves and bring all of their different home cultures and home language in the program.
5). What should an infant teacher do to plan curriculum for babies?
The best way to approach a curriculum is based on the belief that very young children need only safe environments and tender loving care and that specific attention in order for them to feel like they are at home and in good hands.
Edisa, I definitely agree with you on helping educators create environments to help the children learn and grow.
Edisa — Your thoughtful responses reflect that you have integrated the info from ECE 209! Using baby’s needs and individualized routines will help teachers plan for curriculum!
1.How do infants learn? Infants learn based on their relationships with others. Infants also learn by what they see and hear from others.
2.What do infants learn? Infants learn how to build strong relationships with others
3.How do relationships support infant learning & development? Through relationships infants start to build trust base on the care they receive from others such as caregivers and through these trusted relationships children will respond to those who they feel care about their needs. Infants will begin to learn, grow and develop through their relationship they have with others.
4.Based on your responses to questions #1, 2, and 3, what should curriculum in infant classrooms be based on? I think the curriculum in infant classrooms should be based on building healthy and trusted relationships with others.
5.What should an infant teacher do to plan curriculum for babies? I think teachers should take the time to get to know each child and their individual needs, then plan to support each child based on their needs to build a healthy, strong and trusted relationship with each child.
Hey Erica, I agree with you that infants lean based on their relationship with others. Children are very young to think like grown ups so they examine others and they fallow that lead. I love your answers.
i agree its important for the babies curriculum to be meeting all the child needs because thats how babies will learn everyday the right way.
Erica — Thanks for your insightful reply! When infants feel safe and secure in their relationships with others, they are able to explore the environments with their senses. Getting know each baby & their unique needs is the basis of our work! Your responses demonstrate you have internalized & owned ECE 209!
1) How do infants learn? Infants learn by observing others, watching and listening. Especially if you make eye contact with them while talking to them so they have a better understanding and know what’s going on.
2) What do infants learn? Infants learn how to build relationships with their caregivers and trusting them.
3) How do relationships support infant learning & development? Relationships support infant learning and development because in order for an infant to learn from someone, they need to trust that person and feel that they are safe. Infants need to feel comfortable.
4) Based on your responses to questions #1, 2, and 3, what should curriculum in infant classrooms be based on? The curriculum in infant classrooms should be based on helping infants feeling comfortable in a new environment and making sure they don’t feel left out. The curriculum should support the infant like their needs or interests.
5) What should an infant teacher do to plan curriculum for babies? I believe an infant teacher should just make sure that they give the baby attention, make them feel safe, and to let them feel like they can trust you. They should do things that interest the babies. Also to build a relationship with the babies family.
Hey Solanny, I definitely agree that the curriculum should support the infant like their needs and interests. As a teacher/caregiver your main interest should be to focus on the child’s needs and wants. And be able to fulfill them. Good Job :).
i agree with #4 it is important o make sure infants feel comfortable and not left out because if they dont they wont learn about relationships and trust.
Solanny — Yes, trust is the foundation & needed for infants to learn! If babies don’t trust & feel safe they cannot explore their environment & take in info with their senses. Making babies feel comfortable, safe & trusting is the basis of our work! Without trust, babies can’t learn!
How do infants learn? Infants learn through their senses.. Their eyes, ears, nose and mouth.. Infant uses their hands to reach for objects
What do infants learn? Shapes, sizes and colors
How do relationships support infant learning & development? Relationships can help support infant learning because t builds great trust
Based on your responses to questions #1, 2, and 3, what should curriculum in infant classrooms be based on? A curriculum in infant classrooms should be based on learning goals, activities and also a curriculum where it has ideas that babies can explore and learn .
What should an infant teacher do to plan curriculum for babies? Infant teacher can treat and respect the child and also gain the infant trust.
Shania — Yes, without respect, responsiveness and reciprocity, teachers cannot build trust with babies! If babies do not trust, they cannot learn. Babies use their senses to take in information & learn. So if teachers don’t practice the 3 R’s/ relationship-based practice, and build trust with babies, they won’t be able to explore and learn from their envirnment!
1. How do infants learn? They learn through using their own senses such as eyes, ears, nose, hands, and mouth. They use their bodies to learn to make their own discoveries, they can start to reach and grab at certain objects allowing them to figure out certain toys.
2.What do infants learn? They learn to build relationships and can see and hear what is happening around them to that she/he would be able to communicate their needs and interests to others.
3.How do relationships support infant learning & development? supportive and nurturing relationships, while also devoting your time an effort to build a relationship with an infant can help caregivers have a much better understanding of infants.
4.Based on your responses to questions #1, 2, and 3, what should curriculum in infant classrooms be based on? develop environments for infants to be able to build trust and to learn and grow.
5.What should an infant teacher do to plan curriculum for babies? follow the babies lead to support their rapid development. Figure out what would catch their attention and work with that.
1. How do infants learn?
Infants learn by observing their surroundings and trying out objects with their senses.
2. What do infants learn?
Infants learn whether the world is safe or not, who they can trust, what they can eat, and what they cannot, relationships.
3. How do relationships support infant learning & development?
Relationships support infant learning and development because teachers are able to learn about the uniqueness of each infant and how to help each infant grow and develop. These relationships also help infant in that the infants learn to create bonds with other people than their own families.
4. Based on your responses to questions #1, 2, and 3, what should curriculum in infant classrooms be based on?
Infant curriculum classrooms should be based on what the infant knows and their capabilities and enhance and strengthen those capabilities.
5. What should an infant teacher do to plan a curriculum for babies?
An infant teacher should first get to know the infants that will be in her/his classroom to be able to create an environment where it welcomes the infant and also where the infant will be able to grow and learn.
1. How do infants learn? – Infants learn by observing others and trying out things by ‘try and error’ process.
2. What do infants learn? – Infants learning about trust and mistrust, about relationships, who they can talk to or not, and about respecting others.
3. How do relationships support infant learning & development? – They see and learn from it. They see how adults form relationships with one another and this is how they learn and reciprocate with other babies and people. They form a trust with a person and if that is broken then they start believing that people are bad and they cannot be trusted. This is how they develop the theory about mistrust.
4. Based on your responses to questions #1, 2, and 3, what should curriculum in infant classrooms be based on? – It should be based on what infants know and believe in. Infants should not be overloaded with things that they find hard to understand.
5. What should an infant teacher do to plan curriculum for babies? – The infant teacher should first get to know the baby and their family and this is the first step the teacher should go through in order to plan the curriculum. The curriculum should also be based on what is best for the baby and what the baby can do and learn from it.
1.Infants learn mostly by the example of the acions performed by other around them. Infants obeserve these actions and listen to the words and sounds around them. It is known than in order to build a better bond with an infant, and fully get his attention, we need to establish eye contact.
2. Infants learn about relationship of trust with others, starting with their family and then with ther caregivers.
3. A curriculum should be based on the relationships that infants are able to develop with the caregivers. Having a curriculum not only bennefits the caregiver to be more organized with the activities to develop with the children but also help the child, as the caregiver is more able to provide higher quality care.
4. When a curriculum is created, it should be based on the relationships the caregiver and the children get to develop. If a curriculum is well organized and truly based on the children’s needs, this will bennefit the children develop in a better way.I also believe that when a curriculum is created, teachers and caregivers must make sure they are being sure of including every child and understanding of their personalities so that they can have their freedom.
5 when teachers are going to create a curriculum I think they first should talk with the parents of each child in order to get to know the children in a deeper wayand also be aware of their background so that they can meet their needs in a better way. The should have quality care and safety as primary policies and strategies to build relationships where the children can feel they can trust.
How do infants learn?
Infants learn everyday by watching everything that adults do .
What do infants learn?
Infants learn how to communicate and have relationships .with caregivers
How do relationships support infant learning & development?
Responding to an infant to their every cry helps them to build a relationship and trust for you.
Based on your responses to questions #1, 2, and 3, what should curriculum in infant classrooms be based on? Curriculum should be based on cognitive skills in everyday life and routines that help them grow.
What should an infant teacher do to plan curriculum for babies?
A curriculum should be making sure that all children are safe in the environment in every activity that they do and having attention to ensure they are in good hands.
I have reviewed this module!
How do infants learn? Infants learn through their senses, the world around them and from their families/teachers.
What do infants learn? Infants learn how to get their needs met, self soothe, trust, and how to make sense of the world.
How do relationships support infant learning & development? Relationships support infant learning and development by building trust and attachment between, families, teachers and infants.
Based on your responses to questions #1, 2, and 3, what should curriculum in infant classrooms be based on? Curriculums in classroom should be based on Relationships Based practices.
What should an infant teacher do to plan curriculum for babies? Create family based practices, ensure that individualized routines are planned, create a family like environment and ultimately just follow the children lead.
1.I believe infants learn by everything they see, hear, taste, touch, and smell. They see someone do something and they try to repeat the same physical movement. Someone says something and the baby hears it again and again the baby may start to repeat it and try to vocalize it as well.
2. I feel infants learn how to know what is safe. They learn how the world is and if it is a place they can feel safe and rely on. They also learn about relationships and how it is to be in a relationship.
3. Relationships support infant learning and development because the relationship between a caregiver and child helps the caregiver understand the child more. It helps them understand how the baby is, how the baby learns, and how the baby doesn’t learn. That’s how the relationships help infant learning and development.
4. The curriculum in infant classrooms should be based on their prior knowledge on what they know about certain things because it is hard for the children to focus on something new and learn more about that new thing that they have never seen or heard of before.
5. The infant teachers need to first observe and get to know the infant. Then get to know the family, and how the infant learns in a classroom environment to then finally be able to create a plan that can work in order to teach a curriculum for babies.
