2. Answer: A big boost on my happiness level, according to several studies I’ve heard that being in love has a big effect on your oxytocin level, which promotes bonding and comfort.
3. Answer: Respect each person values who the other is and understands the other person’s boundaries. I must know more about family and what they agree and what they disagree with in order to know how i should take care of their infant. I feel it is so important to have a connection and respect with the family because once the respect is placed with the family they will always feel secured when it comes to me watching their child which will make the infant have a connection with me.
Hey Janate good morning. I totally agree with all your answer and while reading yours I might have forgotten some important characteristics. But, I wanted to say that your answer for question 2 is where I agree the most. On Netflix ( I’m not sure if it’s still there) called Babies and on the first episode they were talking about how both parents during and after birth produce high levels of oxytocin. All your answer I can relate in a person level Janate. Thank you for your post 🙂
Janate, Communicating is such a important factor in a relationship. Without communication how would we know the others needs, wants, or how they are feeling? Communication is a important way to address issues and find a way to solve it together.
Janate –Thanks for your comment! Respect and trust are important in relationships with others — and when working with babies & families! Oxytocin does promote bonding. When families feel safe, secure & have trust in the baby’s teacher, the babies sense those feelings of calm and security!
1:What are the qualities and characteristics of this relationship that make it successful?
The qualities and characteristics of our successful relationship are the someone who is trustworthy you cannot start any type of relationship without trust. The relationship needs to be open minded, sense of humor, be respectful, compassion, good communication, be able to apologize and forgive each other. In my opinion these are the essentials for any relationship I find myself making .
2:What does this relationship bring to your life? What are the benefits?
This relationship to me brings joy, a sense of being a whole , sense of accomplishment with this relationship I know I have unconditional support and love. The benefits of having this relationship to me would be feeling confident and being nothing but my true self always.
3:Which of the characteristics you listed above would be important in working with babies? Working with families who have infants?
All of the characteristics I have listed and those which I did not list is important in working with babies and their families. When you are creating that bond with the child you must make sure that you are being your true self always. I believe is important to make a connection with the family first and then everything will follow. When working with infants all they know is their small family at home and you are a stranger and if you are not getting along with the family, children will pick up the vibe and I believe it will be hard to get through with the child.
Hi Patricia,
I do believe with you #3 statement with being true with the child. If it is one thing i can say about children is they can read people. They know when a person is good, bad, sad, they read emotions so well its crazy. So i do believe if people were just comfortable and love what they do with children that things can be better for people that are trying to pursue a teaching/daycare career.
Yes ! you definitely right. At my current job I was placed into a classroom that had two teachers already. The other teacher assistant and I would also be making fun of each other you know getting along. Well long story short, my co-worker and I were waiting for one child to get picked and my co-worker was “complaining” about how my book bag was heavy and the child goes and says ” Ms.Monge is right you mad annoying bro”.
Patty & Janate — Your are creating community by engaging in dialogue here! Keep it up!
Patty — Thanks for sharing the cute story! I wonder, what other messages did the child receive from your relationship with your colleague?
Hey Patricia,
I agree with everything you said for #3 building a connection with first is important because you wouldn’t want to work for someone that doesn’t trust you, respect you, etc when working with there child. Also i strongly believe that babies do pick up on vibes/spirit of a person who doesn’t have a good energy about them.
Patty — Trust and empathy are key components of relationships. Bringing your authentic self to your work is important to working with babies — if are aren’t being your true self, you are tense and anxious — at least internally. Babies sense that. The 1st step in building a relationship is a connection. Babies sense tension in their families if their families do not feel comfortable with the teacher.
A healthy relationship I have in my life is with my two children. What makes it a healthy relationship is being able to understand their needs whether they can fully communicate them to me yet. My infant is full of curiosities and I let him explore them in the safest ways possible. My toddler is very outgoing and talkative. These relationships bring happiness to my life by knowing that my children are happy, learning and growing everyday. I believe curiosity would be important to work with when it comes to infants because that is a way they learn from experience.
Hello Grace how old are your kids exactly?. Also, I agree with your response because children are reliable, trustworthy , honest and everything else we can imagine, your children is the most important relationship to keep and build as strong as you can.
Hi Patricia, I have a 4 and 1 year old. I strongly agree with your comment. I feel that being your children’s friend aside of being a parent, the relationship would be stronger and they can trust you with anything.
Grace & Patty — You are building community by creating dialogue! Keep it up!
Grace I agree with you, letting children explore themselves offers them a sense of individuality.
Grace — Thanks for your comment! Communication happens without words, even before a person can speak! I wonder, what characteristics from your relationship with your children will be important when you work with families of infants?
1. The qualities and characteristics of an relationship to make it successful is respecting each person and gaining the trust to build that relationship. With respect and trust you are able to have that mutual support from each other and recognize how to fix issues.
2. This relationship brings trust, companionship, communication, and support. With the support from your mutual you are able to gain confidence and live more happily knowing that when things take a turn that person will always be there to hear you hardship and arrange a solution.
3. The characteristics listed above will help when working with babies because it provides a connection to the infant. Gaining that trust from not only the infant, but the family itself will build a relationship where they would be able to rely on you and trust you as the caregiver of their child. You will be able to understand the culture and world they live in not only by communicating with the infant, but also the family.
Hi Tamia,
I agree with #2 when it comes to support. I really dont feel people have enough of support from their significant other, friends, etc. I feel if people would be much supportive with one another things would be so much better and bring confidence level high.
Hi Tamia, i agree with your first answer trust and respect plays a huge factor in relationships because without it how can you truly develop a relationship with someone? how can you build with someone without those factors? you know
Hi Tamia. I agree with you 100% on number 3 because this is the first step of helping a parent shape the future of their kids. Building a relationship with parents is very important because they are the one who knows they’re kid best. This will help the teacher better understand the child and it will give the opportunity for the teacher and parent to build a friendship which is very important because other than the parent being the caregiver, also would the teacher. Trust is important between the parent and the teacher because the child would be most times and days with the teacher.
Eunice — Families do know their children best!
Tamia — Thanks for your comment. Feeling that a relationship provides you with support is reassuring and can build a sense of security! Having open communication with a family of an infant and respecting their heritage culture are crucial elements for effective relationship with families who have infants.

3. Which of the characteristics you listed above would be important in working with babies? Working with families who have infants?
Ans: Characteristics that are important working with babies are having patience, being loving and caring, etc. babies can tell when a person is not either one of those things and working with the families you should be all the above meaning being respectful, being understanding, willing, etc. because you will be building a bond with both. However, making a connection with the family is very important and also with the baby.
Hi Lacoya. You are so right when you say that “someone who can own up to the wrong and rights” is important in a relationship because if we this isn’t done toxic follows behind this. If someone can admit their right this creates emotional distress. Hearing your partner out in a relationship is very important because everyone has different feelings. What one person can feel in a relationship the other might not. Keeping an open mind in a relationship is key. You have to respect of how other people see things because not everyone has the same opinion.
Hi Lacoya, I agree with you that patience is an important characteristic while working with children and families. The two years I worked in a daycare I had learned a lot of patience.
Lacoya — Thanks for your comment. Relationships that build us up make up stronger and help us to recognize that we are not alone. We don’t work work with babies in isolation — we work with babies in the context of their families.
Think about a healthy relationship you have with someone in your life. Answer the questions below.
The respect we have for one another is one of the characteristics that make the relationship successful. Also being honest to each other and trusting each other. We are always making sure we are on the same page so communicating and agreeing is a commitment we both keep.
What does this relationship bring to your life? What are the benefits?
This relationship brings me happiness because I know that there is a level of respect that we committed to having from the beginning of the friendship. Long and trusting relationship is one of the benefits that I have got from this relationship.
Which of the characteristics you listed above would be important in working with babies? Working with families who have infants?
Although they are all important I believe the two most important characteristics to achieve are trust and respect when working with childrens and they’re families. Younger children don’t respond well to harsh responses. I remember 3rd grade was difficult for my son because his teacher was a little tough. That attitude she had made my son more rebellious towards her. I end up figuring it out on my own that although my son isn’t an adult, he is a human who wants respect as well. Seeing the outcome of him getting his respect made a major change in his behavior. Therefore it’s important that teacher’s build trustful and respectful relationships with children and their parents because we are their reflection.
Hey eunice, I totally agree with you on that trust and respect is one the most important characteristics while working with children and families because without that respect and trust there will be no type of relationship or connection.
Eunice — Thanks for your comment. I am sorry about the experience your son had in 3rd grade; thank you for sharing. Every person wants & deserves respect — whether they are in 3rd grade, are an older person, a newborn, or are the family of a baby. Trust is the cornerstone of all relationships.
Hey Eunice I agree children needs to be respected as people too and a lot of times parents and caregivers don’t take that into consideration.
1. What are the qualities and characteristics of this relationship that make it successful?
me and my bestfriends have been friends for 11 years and what has kept it so strong is respect, trust and communication. We value each others boundaries and we are able to speak on anything because we communicate to understand each other.
2. What does this relationship bring to your life? What are the benefits?
These relationships bring happiness to me, and it brings be security. When I feel like there is no one else, I know for sure I can depend on them if needed.
3.Which of the characteristics you listed above would be important in working with babies? Working with families who have infants?
Respect would be a number one quality to have when working with babies and their families. Respect works for everything and can go a long way. For example, if there is a concern as long as you communicate respectfully your family will be more willing to listen. Trust is also important because you are taking care of someone’s child for 5 days out of a week, if the family and child trusts you and feels secure the better the success for the child.
It’s good to feel that you can count on someone if needed, especially someone that it is not but became part of your family.
Cindy — Thanks for your comment. When infant teachers respect families and engage in open and honest communication, it can build a family’s sense of trust and security with the teacher.

3.The characteristics that were listed above that is important in working with babies and families that have infants are trust and respect. Its important to build trust with the family and infants so you can actually be able to connect and help. Children are sensitive and don’t understand very well, so its important to treat the child well and respectful. Once you give that child that love and respect they will openly trust you and want to be around you and once a parent sees that your child have that love for you they will also trust you with their babies. Remember a child will show you through their actions if they do not feel safe with a person.
I totally agree with you in your last answer. Trust and respect are really important when working with children.

hey Nisha, I agree with what you said about respect, trust and communication being important with working with infant and families. Parents should trust caregivers and communicate so they can be on the same page in full filling the child needs
Yes, respect is number one. Without it a relationship is bound to fail.

2. This relationship brings to my life happiness and joy. The benefits are acceptance, feeling valued, express myself freely with out feeling judged

Shemella, it’s a great thing to have someone around you can speak freely to. Not many people have that in relationships/friendships.
Mel — Thanks for your comment. If all of the characteristics you list are important for working with babies and families, I wonder how the characteristics will look different when working with babies then with working with families (adults)?
What are the qualities and characteristics of this reletationship that makes it successful?
I believe that the qualities and characteristics of building or making any relationship successful is Trust, Honesty, Understand each other, being able to Communite, know when it’s the right time to apologize and forgive Including Respecting each other boundries, because at certainpoints it’s okay to ask for space when you feel overwhelmed.
What does this relationship bring to your life? What are the benefits?
This relationship brings me happines, it makes me feel like I can trust the person I am with. I feel like I am loved and respected. And it makes me feel secure and confident about myself.
Which of the characteristics you listed above would be important in working with babies? Working with families who have infants?
Everything I have mention it’s important because when working with infants the parents have to communicate with the caregivers about what the baby likes the times they take naps or eat. As well as the caregiver has to communicate if the baby was having any troubles if they didn’t want to eat or interact with others, to make sure the parents are aware and to know when should they take their child for a doctor visit.
When working with families it’s important to hear them out make them feel loved and cared for because many families might struggle with certain things and as a caregiver we should suppor children as well as their families. So that we can build a bridge of communication with them and make everything run smooth.
Marilyn — Thanks for your comment. I wonder, which of the characteristics you list are important when working directly with babies?
I reviewed this assignment
1. Some of the qualities and characteristics that make up a healthy relationship for me are mutual respect, kindness, communication, and understanding.
2. What this positive relationship bring into my life is stability, peace, and joy. And there is for sure so many great benefits that having this type of relationship in your life brings. Such as being comfortable enough to share your concern/worries and not be judged. Knowing you have someone you can rely on and trusting them with anything.
3. Some of the characteristics I listed above are just as important when working with babies as well as families who have infants. Being kind with the child provides a welcoming and warm environment for the child. Communication is very much needed in working with parents to let each other know of the child’s needs and progress. Mutual respect is needed as well with both babies and parents to present trust and safety between one another.
Xitlaly — Thanks for your comment! Peace and joy are powerful words/ emotions! Being able to rely on someone can gives us a sense of comfort, stability, and safety. I wonder, how would you create a welcoming warm environment for babies and families?
