At the end of the semester you will determine your grade for ECE 209 based on your self-assessment of what you have learned. In preparation for your self-assessment, answer the questions below; you will answer these questions at the end of each module so you have a record of what you have learned over the semester. You can answer the questions here on Open Lab or create a journal on Blackboard (which would be private).
- What did you learn in this module?
- Information/ knowledge
- Skills
- Insights (connections you made or “ah-ha’s” you had about the material)
- How will the material from this module better prepare you to work with infants?

Answer: In this module I learned about identify cognitive skills and processes, also cognitive milestones. Also about cognitive development How certain children may act at a certain age. I also learned how to support cognitive development. I can use this information in the healthcare world and see if my patients are able to see their cognitive skills, why they behavior is a certain why and also speak to the parents to let them know what they can do at home to keep letting their cognitive develop
What I’ve learned in this module is being able to identify how and what teachers can do to help with infants cognitive development. Learning again that these expensive materials that deem they help better enhance or improve your infants ability to develop is false. Things like talking them on trips to the zoo, having a day of story telling, or even having a day where it would be all about collaboration would help. Its alright to help infants, but its even better to let them take the course in their own development.
In this week module i learned how teachers and parents can support the babies cognitive development. Reading , singing songs, talking to them all the time and repeating words and phrases helps the baby cognitive development.
In this modules I learned about ways to improve cognitive development for infants. We also talked about the movie Babies we saw.
In this module i learned about baby’s neurons after they are born and how its a essential to cognitive development. i learned about steps of information processing and the two different types of memory skills. Reading and singing songs, talking to the infant, etc. help improve their cognitive development.

In this module I learn how we as caregivers and parents can support our children with their cognitive development. I learn tips that can be used when dealing with infants. The biggest insight that made me “ah-ha” was when toddlers use their caregivers as tools. Infants benefit from us talking to them and making sure we are consistent in our routines.
2)How will the material from this module better prepare you to work with infants?
This material will help me better prepare myself to work with infants because I will have tips and activities on how to healthy support the learning process for our infants.
in this module I learned how us as caregivers can improve a child’s cognitive skills. We can also pass it on to parents so they can learn along with their children as they grow. I was intrigued by how flash cards are so useful for children of any age. This will better prepare me because it gives me ideas on how to help children with their developmental growth.
