LinkedIn – Gabriela´s profile

Last week we had a great session with Tiff and Annie about HR and for me personally, it was amazing!!  It was positively surprising. I had questions about how to get into the work field as an immigrant, how to change careers, and how to manage a large gap in your resume and they had answers for all them. I was not expecting a “solution” for the gap in my resume and Annie explained to me about survival jobs that I have never heard of that before and gave me hope to have my resume looking good again. Tiff also gave tips on how to connect to the interviewer without getting personal, it was nice to understand more about American culture professionally.

Below, is my LinkedIn profile for a better understanding of my education and work experience.

As I was going into the live session for the class I was actually very interested because the opportunity to get knowledge from anyone is always valuable. Prior to the class I had little to no knowledge about Linkedin and its purpose. After the class I can say I walked away with knowledge that will help me moving forward in my journey to shift careers. Personally, I enjoyed the live session with Annie and Tiff because it allowed me get key tips that I will be able to use. During this session it also gave me my first experience of going into breakout rooms where I spoke with my classmates. My classmates and I had discussions about fears going into the interview process for a job and the comparison I experienced with my process versus their process was very different but similar. They voiced to me their fear and self doubt which I also experienced with my job interview but overcame it in different ways.  With Annie my biggest takeaway was the process and the importance of the summary on the LInkedin profile. As i was setting up my profile I tried my best to follow the format given so I wouldn’t make any mistakes. When Tiffany began speaking she also capitalized on a lot of the key points Annie touched on referring back to the question I asked about not having experience in a job field that you want to cross over to. They both placed emphasis on marketing yourself as a brand and remaining professional while doing so which is key.  I feel like after the class I do have a better understanding of how to use Linkedin, the purposes and  how to present certain information in the job field to grasp the attention  of recruiters. I have attached my Linkedin link at the bottom and look forward to connecting with everyone

Jamel “CasketOnDaBeat” Purnell Linkedin Assignment

Let me first say I enjoyed the live session with Annie and Tiffany. My favorite part was the breakaway. I was paired with Annie and Tyler as my group. The one on one time was extremely valuable as she helped us both with real-world answers to questions about anxiety, as well as simplifying one’s biggest strengths and biggest weakness. My biggest take away from this assignment was to always market your self the way you want people to view you professionally, Smile, give insight, and be real.  Professionalism is most certainly a big highlight for me also. I was able to learn how I can use Linkedin to professionally market myself and my brand. Before this assignment, I neglected my LinkedIn account not realizing how powerful a tool it is. In the growing age of social media and the open job market, this platform for me serves as a combination of just the right amount of both. I neglected the platform because years ago when I first set up my account. I couldn’t figure out exactly what the benefits were, and how I could make it work for me and my businesses. I had no clue how to formally use the platform as a marketing tool to attract jobs looking to hire professionals in the field, as well as C.E.O’s being able to market their company to attract a diverse melting pot of potential new hire candidates. I welcome all my classmates to connect as we begin our journey’s in the world of business. I’ve attached my LinkedIn URL just below.
