Summary
Employees are essential in any company, without them there would be much to do with little time. It is very important to guarantee to treat talent or employees in an appropriate fashion. Companies tend to deter their employees from staying at the same job, in such of salary, training, benefits, communication, recognition, treatment, and much more.
Harper has worked in the same role at Marketable, Inc. for four years. She currently has a new boss named David who doesn’t seem to prioritize her or other employees. Harper now finds it hard to maintain a work/life balance due to the new number of responsibilities and workload given to her by David. The most demotivating part of Harper's job is her boss doesn't take the time to keep his employees motivated and doesn’t bother to have the availability to even communicate with them.
If I were an HR Manager and I met with Harper’s supervisor, David, I would advise him to ensure that he is not overworking his employees and to consistently acknowledge team members for the effort they put into their work, such as providing rewards in the form of bonuses, raises, promotions, paid time off, gifts, etc. anything that could provide actual value to employees’ lives. Doing these few things would definitely re-engage Harper, I would also advise making sure to be an open communicator, where employees feel comfortable talking about problems or work in general.
The downside of losing Harper as an employee would be decreased productivity because there would be fewer team members to get work done. As a result, the remaining employees get overwhelmed with more work to help make up the difference, thus their stress levels rise and they would feel just like Harper. Harper has also been an employee there for 4 years meaning it will cost Marketable Inc in recruitment and hiring, it will also be hard to find someone who was so committed to the job.
