2.Some people say the Supreme Court is anti-democratic because judges are appointed, not elected. I understand this point, but I don’t fully agree. I think this system actually helps protect democracy in a different way. If judges were elected, they might follow popular opinion too much and ignore minority groups. Based on what we learned from Federalist No. 10, democracy can be influenced by factions or majority interests. So, in my opinion, appointing judges helps keep them independent and prevents the “tyranny of the majority.” Overall, I believe the court system plays an important role in protecting individuals, especially those who don’t have strong political power.
