1. The constitution was written by the wealthy and educated men. Most of them either land, slaves, or huge businesses. They all wanted to keep their money and power within themselves. Their goal was to create a government to protect their assets. Being in control of everything gave them power However people who were farmers, workers, women, and slaves weren’t included. They couldn’t even vote nor speak their minds. Farmers believed that the rich and educated were the only ones allowed to make important decisions in America.
  2. In the earlier years, only rich white men had power and could vote. Poor people, women, people of color (poc) had no say in anything. In today’s society, all can vote and go to school. But the rich still holds more power. The more power and money you have, you can get what you want out of the government. Many working class still struggling to provide for their families. Even though we have better and fairer opportunities now But the rich still holds.

  1. In reference to the second response, I do agree that though there is more equality when it comes to voting and education, but also that it does not mean we are all equal. The wealthy are still on top and have much more power than minorities, similar to the early United States.

  2. Hi Rosie You present a compelling argument concerning how the founders, who were wealthy, created the Constitution to ensure that their interests were largely protected. I encourage the opinion that, despite the extension of the right to vote, power in modern society remains disproportionately determined by wealth. It is fascinating that the same division that was present in America many years ago remains a factor in determining who actually influences governmental decisions.
