Image collage

Using the techniques covered in class, created a digital collage combining source images in Photoshop. Use tools we’ve covered in class (adjustment layers, filters, masks, crop tool etc.) to create your composition. You may only use images in the public domain or with a Creative Commons license, or images you created yourself. 

Submission instructions 

Create a post on the Open Lab with the following: 

  • Export an image for the web, using .jpg format 
  • Project statement 
  • Project title 
    • Semester and year created 
    • Software and/or languages used 
    • 3-4 sentence description of your creative and technical process. For example: Why did you choose the images you used? How many images did you combine? What were your sources of inspiration? What was the most challenging part of the project and how did you solve it? etc.
    • Credits for all images you did not create yourself, using this citation example. 

Upload the following files to Brightspace: 

  •  The PSD (Photoshop) file for the final project 
  • Link to the Open Lab post 

Citation example:

“Title of Work or Page” by Author’s last name, first name (or username). CC License (or CC0 for Public Domain). Title of Website. Date uploaded/updated. URL.

Rubric 

Criteria Description Points 
Composition The final image composition is well designed. The theme is clear and the composition choices work well together. 20
Photoshop file The PSD file shows proper use of layers, filters, masks, and other Photoshop techniques. The file is well organized and easy to understand. 10 
Documentation Documentation including images and/or video is included in the post. The media is the correct format, size and length. Images are cropped and sized to show the documented work. 10 
Blog post A post is published on the Open Lab. The post includes documentation and a written description that makes the goal of the post clear. 
Writing Writing is clear and uses correct grammar. 
Link A link to the published Open Lab post is submitted on Brightspace.
