The short film “The Hand” (1965) was seen as subversive by the communist government due to the film going against communism. Its message was to express independence to the viewers and that as a society, learn to become open minded about the way their government is controlling them. The Czech government did not approve of what the film was illustrating as it had the potential to break the hold communism had on its people.

Sound is used to emphasis the action that occurs during scenes in a film. This works well with animated films as the sound is able to set the ambiance of the scene that is being shown to the audience. By adding sound in the film Steamboat Willie, it allows for the characters as well as the audience to embark on a journey on the boat considering the film revolves around music. Each character played a specific tune which further emphasizes how they all had a meaningful role to be played throughout the film. This also allowed for the characters to be given an identity which is important for the story that the film proceeds to share.

Early animated films are seen to be based on print comics due to the fact that many people, especially in the U.S, enjoyed reading comic books. This is because it gave a moment of peace for those who read them as they were in a time that was dealing with war. By creating an animated film based on print comics, it brings an audience that has already familiarized themselves with the characters.

In the modern world it allows for both already existing audience members aware of the story and characters to admire and those who never took interest or heard of the story be able to experience what the story is about. Using what has been written and adapting it into a show and movie all while following exactly how it starts and how it ends, gives a connection between those who worked on it and those who watch it. This is because it’s something the audience can appreciate about the work that has been put into making something they’re able to relish in.
