Raheem Laing-W13 Prompt 1

Studio Ghibli’s Pony story represents conflict between man and the natural world. The base of the story is that Pony a little fish who wants to become human and live on the surface. She starts to fall in love with the human world and a boy named Sasuake. With her turning human she disrupts the balance between the sea and the surface world which causes conflicts of Japan being submerge in water. The problem gets resolved by her making the choice on leaving the sea and never becoming a fish again and living on the surface forever.

With Disney making a decision on closing big studios on 2D animation I think it was a good one even though that was what they started with when they started to open up the studios. Some audience members do like watching classic 2D films cause they are more focus on story and the older style of animation. Being that they closed the studios they focus on 3D animation which is what everyone is really more into cause its popular. Disney have thrive to the challenge of getting realism in every effect as possible. But with that being said 2D animation is still going strong due to Disney’s Princess and the frog film being one the best 2D films that incorporates a lot of culture and music.

The most popular Japanese animated Tv show that is up-to-date would be One piece, Attack on Titan , Demon Slayer, and jujutsu kaisen. The genre of these shows mostly belongs in is animated action and adventure. There story line mostly is based off the young men taking on action into their own hand. These animated series are usually on many different platforms. The main platforms that are well known are Funimation and Chrunchyroll where you can watch all animated series from japan even catching up on the manga to read. Japan animated series resonates with American audiences because it something everyone can watch also enjoyed also talk about. All the shows are popular with japan you can see the way everyone enjoys watching by doing Cosplay or just having fun catching up with friends on the next series.

When watching “Rooty toot toot” they use a lot of different colors and movements which make the short film appealing. The story of film really took in a lot of sound which really blend as you see the characters at a club trying to enjoy themselves amongst each other. This would catch a lot of attention due to the rash movement of everyone on film.

During the time the communist government did not like anyone challenging them. So when they seen the film by Jiří Trnka they probably felt threaten or under minded by what the film was portraying at that time. So that’s why they didn’t want to distribute the film as well. In that time period communist were trying to censor a lot of speech even if it was film just by speaking bad on the government as well.

When watching Private Snafu they used a lot of music and Rhythms to conduct the series. This was a good way to get there point across to viewers by showing what happens when you don’t clean your gun. As Private Snafu was shooting you can see mud was coming out and the enemy was mocking him. This showed viewers in the military what happens when the guns Jams you can’t attack the enemy. They used a great sense of humor even though it was a serious situation.

Tohru Honda a teen girl who became an orphan finds herself living amongst the Sohma family of three cousins. Yuki which is like a charming prince among her class mates , Kyo who has a temper who has a hard time channeling his feelings, and Shigure the novelist but can be mischievous at time. Tohru then finds out the Sohma family secert, If one of the members is hugged by the oppiste sex they will be transformed into one of the 12 animals of the chinese Zodiac. This show has great moments and great plot twist.

Raheem.Laing – W5- Prompt 1

Sound was a great way to emphasize every action in the film of Steamboat Willie. Each movement in the film had musical instrunment behind it to give the characters and their action more base. It was also to give the audience more of a sense whats going on in the film as well to entertain. There so that steamboat willie was the first animated film to synchronize music.

Over the years comics were the most popular way to entertain people. Often times they would read comic strips in newspaper and magazines. Comics made a great subject for film due to the readers wanting to know more about the story and what will it lead to in the end. It also gave the artist a chance to push the narrative of the story into film and give the character and other people more roles.

Week 2 – Prompt 1

From watching the video from week 2 we Discovered a lot of Storytelling and different forms of animation. During the time chinese had used Puppetry to entertain people by doing shows using characters and shadows to show case other ways to use animation. We also learned about the Zoetrope an invention in 1834 that was used by moving a drum of pictures to show case multiple of pictuters moving in motion. These two forms have many similar ways by entertaining people but they’re different are how the way they animated the scenes by using tools of shadows and pictures to create a various of movements. These are the best way to showcase how people use animation over the years and how the process took a different form of light.

Journal Entry 1 – Prompt 2

My Favorite animated film is ” Howl’s Moving castle ” by Hayao Miyazaki which was made in Japan around 2004 then came to the USA in 2005. What was most interesting about this film was the graphics and color of the movie that captures your eye. What also made the movie was how the story telling was made and made you relate and connect with other characters.Studio Ghibli also making different animated films that makes you want to create and do story telling.
